Well, to put it simply... ROM hacking is a dying art. There's not much you can do against that. Most kids nowadays are spolit brats who spend their time playing on their PS3 or using Facebook.
Also, hacking 3D games is harder than hacking 2D games. If you want to do something really cool, you need 3D modelling skill.
Games like SMG will make the matter even worse. If your models aren't atleast as good in quality as Nintendo's, your hack looks bad. And Nintendo put great effort into making those models, look at how detailed they are. More generally, Wii hacking is unpractical. Yes, there's Riivolution, yes, the Wii is a Swiss cheese that you hack in no time, but past that, repeated testings can be a pain. Yes, there's Dolphin, but you'll need a powerful computer for it to run smoothly. And of course that emulator, despite being quite good, is still prone to glitches and such. Emulators for older consoles are generally more perfected.
As I said, ROM hacking is a dying art. See how many interest my site or my youtube videos get. Nothing aside from the occasional "OMG ITS BLOK FORT!!!!11" comment. I could improve SM64DSe a lot, but when noone cares about it, why bother? Of course, it may end up miraculously getting interest to SM64DSe, but I don't count on it. I feel like it'll just be a huge waste of time and energy. I mean, I started making SM64DSe mostly for fun, so if it's not fun anymore to make it, I'm not going to force myself to code it just because two people are waiting for a release. People who want a release so much will have to either learn coding (preferentially C# for SM64DSe) and code the stuff they want themselves, or wait.
About this:
I actually prefer hacking 3D Mario games to 2D ones. The problem is that there are simply not enough editors for them that work and are easy-ish to use. I can't hack SMG1 or 2 because my Wii is retarded. I was just waiting until the editor was complete enough to make a full hack, so if that's any motivation...
Yes, I agree. The editor wasn't just not complete enough. And about the collision. I know where your problem is. It's in the octree. The octree isn't good enough so you sometimes fall.
Since you seem to know so much, why aren't you trying to fix that yourself?
