Thanks for all of the great support! We're very actively working on it and expect to me making lots of progress is the coming weeks/months :)

Congrats! Keep up the good work. Is there any way to donate?
Haven't really thought about that, and didn't want to try to make a donation pitch until we have more to offer. However, moving forward, it might be helpful to subsidize web/server costs/etc until the project is more off the ground.

There has been a huge influx of folks on the IRC channel having build issues. As such, I've updated the Windows Build page to be more descriptive. However, I want to emphasize: if you’re struggling to build it, there is probably no point running it because it won't be very useful to you. Once the project is more advanced (and has something to offer non-devs), I’m sure we’ll post regular binaries.

Gee, I wonder what could that mean ;)

The new page is very informative btw.

Also, during Git setup, it asks me how should the PATH be configured. If I choose "Run Git from cmd" maybe I'll be able to skip adjusting PATH. EDIT: Yeah, that worked.

It's git --version btw. Not git--version.

This will be exciting once it does more than run generic arm11/arm9 program code on a generic software framebuffer - but from little acorns...

To the OP of the post:

Hey! I'm the owner of Always Nintendo! This is a very interesting project and I'd love to get more coverage on it :) Would you be available for an interview anytime soon? If you're interested, please contact me as [email protected]

Best of luck on your 3DS emulation :)
You specifically made an account to ask this guy for an interview???
I smell something...

For the love of Arceus, PLEASE include an internal renderer, to improve the resolution, like Desmume did:

uh.. no. He's been here since February 9th, he just never posted anything. Lots of media sites and resellers have GBATemp accounts but never post anything (keeping themselves up to date for news purposes).

Just look how sexy regular DS games can look in HD... Now imagine how good the 3DS games will look.

Once somebody figures out how to use texture packs like N64 and Gamecube\Wii emulators can, DS games will look a whole lot better, like 2DS quality (but in 4:3). I imagine 3DS games will look even better once somebody does a similar tweak to the 3ds emulator years later when it plays commercial games.

That's not entirely what I mean, I meant resolution-wise... but yeah, HD texturepacks help too.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
