I'm getting the same performance with mgba on the latest build as I did back in the day. It's old news to state that mgba could run certain games at fullspeed. I was able to do this on older builds back then. But the same games that stutter, continue to stutter such as the Final Fantasy games. In that way, it's like a half reliable emulator able to play the easy to emulate games, while not being able to emulate the tougher ones. I keep mgba around just for a few gba games that I don't have installed as VC injects. Even GPSP can play the Final Fantasy games fullspeed, except that it crashes randomly on mostly every game. This is why people use VC Injects primarily for playing GBA games. It's 100% reliable (Except it doesn't allow cheaters to you know, cheat)

Nobody talks about mgba because it was never huge. For you (OP) to suddenly realize that it plays some games fullspeed and think you discovered something new and unknown is nonsense. Kinda reminds me of how people on Wii U hacks report a new system update and make a new post, but then it's just a failed update because of the DNS blocking the servers.

What do you suggest, then?

It was the same way with the PSP. Some games ran pretty much perfect and others not so much. If you want full speed emulation, try mgba on Wii U.

Endrift said on her twitter account that she might write a new core for the emulator. First she will improve her ds emulator Medusa though.

Don´t know. Maybe it is to take full advantage of the additional CPU Power?

gotta say I'm really pleased with this new version. I just tried duke nukem advance before I was getting about 20fps now I'm getting 41-42fps. I'm using a N3ds xl with the latest luma.

Nice! Duke Nukem was very unstable in the previous build!

A new core?
I remember that one of the goals of upcoming versions was to have a full dynamic recompiler (Dynarec) for ARM architectures, which is what the 3DS/Android devices tend to use.

Is this the same thing we are talking about?

I interpreted her twitter post:

I kinda wanna write a fresh CPU core but oh heck no I’m not doing that while medusa is still in infancy. I should get back to that sometime.

Oh well that might actually mean something different to what I had in mind.
Still, it's nice to see that mGBA is going strong, still with a crap-ton of features yet to be implemented but imo already superior to VBA in many ways.
