The Xbox One community is looking for someone with the skillset to port "Dolphin" to Xbox One via the UWP Platform. With the system resource increase coming in just a few weeks Dev Mode will have access to 5GB of Ram, 6 CPU Cores and Full Access to the GPU. Meaning running Dolphin on the Xbox One is now well within the capability of Dev Mode. https://gbatemp.net/threads/system-...r-uwp-programs-this-fall.484107/#post-7604009

If you are serious about getting Dolphin on Xbox One I have opened up a bounty here. Anyone can "back" a bounty. The bigger the bounty gets the higher the chance someone will port Dolphin to Xbox One.

How has nobody bothered to take this challenge?
Because it requires specialised knowledge. Most in the community are not programmers. And fewer would know what the hell their doing in attempting to port Dolphin. It's a big task for anyone to take on, even for those who may know what their doing.

I certainly agree with you it would be nice to get someone to actually take this seriously and port Dolphin over to UWP so we could have a Dolphin port for Xbox One.

Thanks mate. Sidenote. Fuck VS2017.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Quick question, has the resource update been pushed? Is it part of todays rollout? Or is that still down the line... Site is super unclear...
no idea, it doesn't say anywhere if there's been more added or not on the xbox one so idk

websites have said that it was coming in the fall update so i assume its arrived already

Wow this was unexpected @GarnetSunset thanks for taking up the challenge. I've tried to port native code over to UWP before but to be frank Microsofts documentation kinda sucks ass and there's not alot of documentation for it online or at least any that i found to be helpful. Having Dolphin on the Xbox One would be absolutely huge.

Here goes nothing I guess! I'll try contacting the codebase master because I'm foreign to all of this but I'm giving it my all!

You may have to modify some of the function calls so that they are not calling restricted code. I know when I was trying to port MAME over to UWP I got as far as compiling the toolchain and generating UWP Project Files but the build would always fail due to certain functions that would call code that's not allowed under the Universal Windows Platform. I'm guessing the reason alot of devs don't port to UWP is because it is a pain in the arse, and since Microsoft banned emulators from the store, their isn't a profit motive.

Looks like he hasn't made a single commit. Maybe he's been working on it locally and hasn't pushed the changes yet, but after several months of no commits I'm kind of doubting he's made much progress.
I actually saw that one when working on mine, thought it would act as a base... but nop. Now is probably the best time to get working since the Fall update is right around the corner... Does anyone have any interest on working on this with me? :) @wiired24 You mentioned working with UWP so if you wanna be a "contributor" moreso a co-writer, would you like to?

they need to have a strong line up on the launch titles too. I think they should move metroid prime 4 to the next console because by now it has been quite a while and there's no release date scheduled yet

  • realtimesave @ realtimesave:
well as far as metroid prime 4 is concerned, the next system probably is similar enough to the current gen they can probably easily just slap it onto a next gen cart and call it good :P

The switch was about 350 in 2017
