Exactly, but some people still updated for no reason.
If it's true they can get emunand on 1.0 well that's huge. Too bad I'm on 2.3. I think I'll order Pokken now and update to 3.0.

I hope there will be an easier method to setup all, that pegaswitch guide doesn't seems very user friendly.

Give it time.

What "discord" are you referring to? Excuse my ignorance, but I'm not familiar with that site.

Also, thanks for posting this information. I watched the presentation, and enjoyed it. However, I was also partially wondering whether I should stay at 1.0.0, based on what SciresM has said in the past, or find Pokken and update to 3.0.0. That helps to clear things up a little bit.

Define "legit." For me personally, I recently got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and The Binding of Isaac, for my 1.0.0 Switch, and am greatly enjoying both of those games. It's actually kind of interesting for me personally, because if I had a higher selection of games, I know that I would have never gotten The Binding of Isaac. I also have Breath of The Wild, which I have gotten a lot of replay value from. It's all about personal preference. The only other game that I am truly interested in is Super Mario Odyssey, which I would like to play at some point. However, that requires an update to 3.0.1, so that same line of reasoning could also be applied to 3.0.0 for some people.

As in, actually buying physical games to load on the console? What did you think I meant? Newer games need newer firmware, good luck being able to play those on low system versions.

Give it time.

For what, user friendly guides or higher firmware support?

Damn, I was afraid of the latter portion. C'est la vie.

Despite everything we saw today, which has a lot to do with premature firmware and other problems. The system's actually well made even if its completely fucked on 1.0.0. Its not anything impossible, but at the same time, it will be increasingly difficult.

So in summary, hoping for 4.0.x firmware support is utterly trivial, as it's just a big fat waste of time. Good, saves me trouble from having hope in something that'll never happen :P *Whew* Dodged that bullet.

Now the irony here being that since a few hours ago, you're actually the lucky one. :) All the very impressive accomplishments aside, a whole lot of us got dare I say got trolled pretty hard today.
this is the part that im genuinely confused about

3 hours ago they flat out told us -> GO TO 3.0 AND STAY ON IT

and now we're told 1.0 is golden (again)

very confusing

My thought on this was plutoo and co, being ethical hackers, want to directly encourage people toward a
userland homebrew only position, whilst at the same time in the rest of the talk hinting at ways to exploit earlier firmwares.
1.0.0 is so broken, and they are fully aware of the potential it offers for more nefarious uses.
Or it could simply be for anyone under 3.0.0 to get to it, figuring that the number of 1.0.0 units out there is so small
it wasn’t worth mentioning as an exception.

This is also possible, and maybe even the case. Frowning on piracy and other nefarious uses is part of the rules for the teams.

Let's assume the hypothetical where this isn't just sloppy miscommunication for a second. Dick waving and carrot dangling has always been part of it, that's fine and I get that. Telling people to update to 3.0.0, while only actively developing and targeting release of NAND emulation for a 1.0.0 firmware that nobody has is not only completely pointless, it's more the case of screwing over ethical users, all of whom are now wondering why the hell they shouldn't just update and actually get to use their Switch.

that makes sense and i had that on my mind as well - can't say i fault them honestly, it's certainly the ethically correct choice.

QFMFT. Finally, someone said it! One, there are almost little to no Switch consoles on the market that are 1.0.0, two, EmuNAND on 1.0.0 would be absolutely useless.

Them: "But 1.0.0 is cracked!"
Us: Well congratu-f*cking-lations
