Let's say I buy a used 15.4" Macbook Pro 2.4GHz model, from before the unibody redesign, that is still under warranty. Would I be able to have Apple replace it with one of the new aluminum unibody 13" Macbooks?

No because its a different model, and apple will only let you clain the warrenty if your current laptop is broken anyway. if its it worth less than your laptop is, then they might exchange it (big mabey) but otherwise your best bet is to sell the one you have, and use the money you got + a bit more to buy it... companys just aint that nice....

Awwwh, ok. My hopes have been crushed. Oh well haha.
I found someone in my area selling a 2.4GHz macbook pro for $600, I plan on contacting and meeting him to check out its condition.

I guess I could buy it if it's in good condition, use it for now and save up some money, then sell it to someone else for $800~1000?
Would that be a reasonable price for a last gen macbook pro?
