nobody knows .. if we can get Tegra4Linux working you can bet your ass linux apps like vlc will work

The problem is that something breaks every week, because of rolling releases. At least Gentoo fully tests their builds before sending them out

Salt/shiny has release things, but was quickly beaten to the punch if I recall correctly, which did exactly what is cfw did for wiiu. So he didn't release it. He has credit in the 3ds scene.
