Fallout 76 announced

After a huge tease of the game via Bethesda Game Studio's Twitch account, a trailer video was released, giving us a look into the latest Fallout game. Gameplay wasn't shown, but we have a title now, Fallout 76, which presumably takes place in Vault 76, a control-vault mentioned in both Fallout 3, and 4. It takes place around 2102, in the timeline (the year FEV was discovered). Fallout 76 is an online game and will be available on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4, and we'll have a better look at actual gameplay during Bethesda's E3 conference.

Really disappointed if it is indeed an MMO, however i didn't expect it to be the next Fallout game so soon. I would've preferred a remastered Fallout 3 to that though. Just another ESO type of game I won't play if it's the case.

I see no reason why it has to follow the same naming scheme as Elder Scrolls Online.

It would make more sense for a Fallout MMO to use a Vault number in the name as opposed to just "Fallout Online", since the Fallout games only span specific states and who's major plot follows vault dwellers in the US and not an entire fictional contentment like Elder Scrolls
Well, I guess it doesn't have too.

I just imagine a Fallout MMO would have multiple different Vaults, but everyone coming out of the same Vault works too.

when i said i wanted multiplayer i didnt mean MMO...... the gameplay in mmos .... meh. but if its not MASSIVELY online, but like Conan Exiles or something where people can make their own servers to dick around in, then im fine.

i know a few people that wouldnt mind playing together, doesn't mean i want to dedicate half my life to an mmo to play with them.

That did cross my mind when I read it was online, but wouldn't they just call it Fallout Online, if that was the case?
Did they resolve the legal troubles with the original parent company? I forget the specifics but when the brand was sold they purposely left room with the originals to finish their online version.

Online game ? Don't see how fallout can succeed as an online game? Look what they did with elder scrolls. Well guess Bethesda is smelling tha moneeyyyyyyy
Fallout style engine in a persistent online space that interacts with loads of other people? Nope. Can't see the appeal there at all.

The rumors (take them with a grain of salt) say it's going to be a survival game, akin to Rust or DayZ. While a Fallout MMO (if done right) would be amazing, I think the survival genre is a perfect fit for Fallout. I mean, I enjoyed the hardcore mode in New Vegas and that basically made it a survival game. The survival genre certainly has had an influx of new games lately, but unless you played most of them for whatever odd reason you have no reason to immediately dismiss the notion, especially before we see any actual gameplay.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
