Homebrew gbaemu4ds: GBA emulator for DS(i) (DSi Entry)

Is the graphic better if you use the sc Version and the upper screen on a 3DS

  • I can't do that (have no 3DS) (have not tested that)

DSi mode is the mode when you're in the DSi menu.
DS mode is when your using your R4

To run this with DSi mode you need either sudohax(no longer available, sudoku that is) or Cyclo iEvo

I don't know about anyone else, but I am still struggling to get this to load a game, even the nitro ones, through sudokuhax. Can someone clue me in on the correct method?

Erm it does, but it will crash after 20 seconds. Just like saying a gba emulator does not exist, it does run, but far from optimal

Here is the discussion about it (taken from the 3rd page):

just used this to play pokemon on the orginal ds and it works but sometimes it dose freeze for half a sec every 20sec or so

was that a COMMERCIAL pokemon game? and what was the rom size?

The creator claimed it only played homebrew under 2mb.

Pokemon Emerald Version

Buttt...the limit for now is 2MB, is it not?

this can be but it will crash after it try to load data from uppern the 2MB and it can't save so i just write no commercial

The emulator can only really play homebrew up to 2MB. It isn't going to be playing Pokemon Emerald ever.
I can allocate 14MB of memory on my DSi with my iEvo in DSi mode.
This emulator is able to load commercial games, i tried a couple of them.
The main problem is the framerate of course.

i think hypervisor is not possible. I use some thumb patching and emulating. But that need time. In the arm9 Version this is nonsence since there the most time is needed for the graphics in hwspeedup it is possible since it use the hw for most things. cpu emulation eat 80% of the cpu power in hwspeedup.
Do you have any clue on how the cpu emulation is done on a dslite with the gba mode (bios) ?

@ichifly&MBmax: Would it be possible to emulate the GBA Bios instead of emulating GBA? I know flashing the BIOS (albeit a bit modified for DSi use) to the DSi would be either useless or perhaps more error prone, so is there some kind of other possibility? Emulating tends to take quite a bit of resources out of otherwise capable systems. :/

NO WAY. Neither of those can access DSi Mode, which only the Cyclos iEvolution can access.
it can still run it's both ds/i mode compatable but most people run it on the ievo due to it being able to use the dsi's extra ram thus making it a bit faster by 1 fps i think
