Suggestion GBATemp Thread Quick Link / URL Shortener

I just thought of this, it would be cool if GBATemp had their own quicklinks to forum posts, or even a URL shortener, using this url:
www.gbate.mp !
According to THIS SITE, the domain is priced at $20 for 1 year and $80 for 5 years.

An example--
Let's say you have a post-

http://gbatemp.net/threads/usa-dsixl-r4i-for-2ds-3ds.478940/

And you have an option to share it- as this-

www.gbate.mp/204814

Way shorter and cleaner!

What do you guys think?

I mean it's an idea, but it'd need somebody to pay for it, with very little actual payoff. Links can be shortened a little anyway, by just having /thread/[thread#] (eg, http://gbatemp.net/threads/478940).

Yeah, I suppose you're right. It's pretty pointless unless it pays for itself (eg: it's a multipurpose url shortener that, on the main site, could shorten any url [like is.gd] and had ads, so if people used it, it would pay for itself.)

Both are equally "confusing" to share, and you save only 11 characters. Even though it might be good for Twitter, 11 characters aren't worth the premium in my opinion.
Using the long version is also good for off-site / facebook links, since it hints what the topic is about: http://gbatemp.net/threads/gbatemp-thread-quick-link-url-shortener.479095

Using it as it is allows to link to specific posts even, would probably be possible with a shortener too, but still:

For what it's worth, Twitter automatically shortens links anyway, so there really is very limited use.

You can link to specific posts with a short url too

So there really isn't a need for the gbate.mp urls imo.
