OCing is great.

My processor is still working after 3 years
my amd64 3000+ 1.8ghz overclocked to 2.54

i had it stable at 3Ghz with another board, but i wanted a board with more features. Also, I burnt out southbridge. Chaintech and my fault. I should have checked that they put the chipset fan on properly or it was loose.

Overclocking is totally worth it IMHO
I got my Q6600 up to 3ghz from 2.4ghz and while thats only 600mhz I gained a good 10 fps in most games.
Anyway by the time your CPU does actually die chances are you'll have a new computer. Most CPU's last a good 10 years so even if you take 2 years off with an overclock chances are it'll probably be worth nothing in 8 years.

As for stability, make sure you test everything for 8 hours at full load. Mines perfect and has been for the last month after buying it and overclocking it when I first got it. I had an E6600 @ 3.2ghz and it worked great overclocked. All the people who say overclocking makes it unstable and is pointless are either terrible at computers or haven't really tried hard enough.

Overclocked score of 5753 in 3DMark06, let me do stock now...
stock 5354 marks.

An improvement of 399 marks, or 7%! Basic 06, so no AA or Aniso filtering though. But overclocking ftw.

I increased the clocks past what I'm comfortable with, and got a score of 5810.

It gets funnier every time you say it.

It's quite the machine.
Quite the price tag as well.

Quality has a price.
Not a good one unfortunately.

You get what you pay for.
So if I pay for a computer, I get a computer?

Thats deep, man.

Pay for a good computer and you get a good computer.

Pay for parts from newegg and you get a Winblows box.

That outperforms the "good" computer.

Hackintosh isn't even close to the real experience, still can't update normally, and is not really a Mac. Part of the experience is that you don't have to fuck with drivers (kexts) to make your graphics card work, you just plug it in and it's done. That doesn't go on a hackintosh. Same for sound, boot camp, etc.
