Gaming I have a strange problem with my computer.

This is so odd, whenever I restart my computer, (using Windows 7) my built in video camera and my DVD drive get auto disabled in device manager. I can enable them each time to get them working again but I would like to fix this so they stay enabled If I have to shut down or restart. Anyone ever heard of this issue or experienced It? I am thinking there must be a check box or a program that is telling these devices to disable on boot up somewhere but I can't find It anywhere after hours of searching Google and also looking for settings and programs all over my computer.

Edit: Also seems to disable certain devices that are plugged into USB ports. Doesn't affect my mouse but It does affect my phone.

I checked msconfig and It is reporting normal start-up and all services and start up programs are checked.

Maybe It has something to do with the powering of the USB ports and drives? Where is the settings for that?

I am looking in power options in the control panel under advanced. What does USB selective suspend settings do? Right now they are enabled on battery and also plugged in.

Selective Suspend for USB ports is a method of saving power, I believe it essentially turns the selected ports off so that they cannot be accessed.

My guess is that turning this off might solve your problem, and if it doesn't, you can always turn the setting back on just in case the power distribution is the problem, and not that Selective Suspend is blocking your ports.

cant bios disable most of the stuff on the motherboard and bus?

Selective suspend being enabled or disabled has no effect on the device manager disabling my devices. I will check the bio's now and see If something in there is causing It, thanks for your input.
