See in piracy, it's kind of a sketchy area.

On one hand, you legitimately paid for the game.

On the other, you circumvented CR protection.

But generally speaking, what your doing IS illegal, but because you paid, and no one else exactly knows, nobody is gonna care

yes, i dont care, if i can get a working copy of any game i like, i WILL play it with the help of flashcarts, cfw, of any means posible. Sometimes I buy them, hack´em, erase them, or just collect them.

what really matters is what you think or can do. I think by now you're old enough to know that is right and wrong.

On the other hand, "my dog ate them" is the oldest excuse in the book...... how old are you, 8?

My dog ate my homework.
That mischievous pup
got hold of my homework
and gobbled it up.

My dog ate my homework.
It’s gonna be late.
I guess that the teacher
will just have to wait.

My dog ate my homework.
He swallowed it whole.
I shouldn’t have mixed it
with food in his bowl.

Wouldn´t say so, need form info, at least you got an A?

I’m glad to say my homework’s done.
I finished it last night.
I’ve got it right here in this box.
It’s not a pretty sight.

My dog chewed up my homework.
He slobbered on it, too.
So now my homework’s ripped to shreds
and full of slimy goo.

It isn’t much to look at,
but I brought it anyway.
I’m going to dump it on your desk
if I don’t get an A.

there is no ifs or buts to piracy.

piracy is simple, if you have something you didn't purchase then its piracy.

regardless if you had purchased it in the past but it broke, if you download the game again rather than buy it, its still pirated.

thats like saying you dont have to pay for this loaf of bread because you bought a loaf two days ago but it went mouldy.

there are internet folk that try claim some sort of loop hole to claim piracy is not illegal or causes no harm, that manufacturers are corrupt for trying to protect their products from those that will pirate and have and never will have intention to every buying it.

you may create a back up of your content (which is pointless) as backups are normally not supported unless the console is hacked, which hacked consoles are not supported by the manufacturer because its allows piracy.

Because he used to legally own a copy and it was destroyed.
The developer and publisher got their share of money for his copy.

He paid for the game already. He already supported the developer, the publisher and everyone involved in it, the things that pro-copywright advocates defend and there is virtually no difference between backing up your game and use the copy when the original breaks or download a copy after the original breaks.

If your dog ate one game, why the hell would you continue leaving them around for him to chew? I don't understand people that buy stuff and refuse to take care of it. I highly doubt your dog pulled the case off a shelf, opened it, removed the cartridge and proceeded to eat it...... When I take a cartridge out of my console, I put it in the case (or a carrier if I don't have a case) and put it away; don't be lazy.

This is actually false (at least in the US, and perhaps Australia and the UK). Anything that circumvents copyright protection is not legal, regardless if you already have the game, or its a "backup", or whatever else. See @wolfmankurd's post.

Depends on where you live. Here in Brazil, to the best of my knowledge, circumventing DRM is only illegal if done with the intent of illegally distributing the copyrighted work. If you circumvent the DRM for a legally allowed reason — such as to make a personal backup, or even to help someone else make their own personal backup of something they own but couldn't get past the DRM — then it's perfectly legal.

Well, that's depend on your country laws. In Italy, you don't own the game but the copyright of its, so If you pay them before, you're fine. For example, if you want to share music in public, you must own the SIAE copyright, but that doesn't mean that you have to download every music in the world.

Physical own isn't the same as copyright, in my country ofc.
