Hacking Is it safe to Update system software to 11.5.0-38U ?

Just installed B9S following this guide: https://3ds.guide/a9lh-to-b9s

Can I now perform a system update like normal to 11.5.0-38U using the 3DS? If not what can I do to restore my ability to play games online, use e-shop, web browser, ect. ?
Also, how does free-shop update?

If you use Boot9Strap and Luma3DS, yes. You can update.
