Kirby and the Forgotten Land is out this March

Announced in a Nintendo Direct last September was the latest Kirby game, Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Offering up a 3D experience this time around, the game also features local co-op and new copy abilities, as confirmed by a new trailer that went live today. Nintendo revealed the release date as well, setting a launch for March 25th.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In the Kirby and the Forgotten Land game, join the powerful and cute hero, Kirby, as he gains new abilities in a 3D platforming adventure for the Nintendo Switch system that’s filled with wonder, wilderness and Waddle Dees. If that sounds intriguing, take a deep breath, because the game launches on March 25.

Kirby has a flair for inhaling air, so he’ll have his work cut out for him when he arrives in an unknown land and discovers that Waddle Dees are being kidnapped in droves by the Beast Pack! To rescue the Waddle Dees, Kirby heads out on a journey with the curious Elfilin, whom he meets in the new world.

Super Kirby 3D World looks great. Just hope they have a shared camera during multiplayer (there's multiplayer, right?) and not one that keeps Kirby as the main focus and everyone else is flailing around off, or barely on, camera.

Nothing tanks multiplayer quicker than a camera that forces Player 1 to be center stage. Makes the games unplayable with my kids because they fight over who gets to be the main character, then whine when the camera forces them to go where Player 1 is going.

cant believe that it took them 30 years to finally do this but it looks really cool, haven't played a kirby game in 8 years since i got burnt out from them being too same-y. Hopefully 3d will make everything feel fresh even if it has the simple platforming of the 2D games

EDIT: this also means that d-pad up wont be the float button, accidentally puffing and losing all of your momentum is the worst feature of 2d kirby ON GOD

Kirby: Planet Robobot is amazing and is less samey.

Behind on my Kirby games and need to catch up since it's one of my favorite series!

Idk, I am waiting for games to actually be released before judging them. I am hyped for both of these games and kind of tired of the anti-hype around Legends. I honestly hope the game is a good one and that we finally see some change in GameFreak. If I am disappointed, then I want that to come from the experience of playing the game and not just from watching trailers.
You can judge something based on a variety of factors, such as past experience, how it looks, etc. I mean, you don't need to physically see and be present to know a blast from an atomic bomb is devastating and will disintegrate you, you know from past records what it can do.

Bit slow on the uptake, Koibster, having your first 3D game thirty years after your first game; your fellow Nintendo contemporaries, Mario and Link, took eleven years and twelve years to get theirs. Pokémon had their first 3D outing (Colosseum) in just seven years.

Better bring your A-game, Koibster, to make up for your delay! :)

Finally a 3D Kirby- better late than never.

Looks dope, too. Definitely picking this one up.

I was secretly hoping this would be for 3DS...
Pokemon Snap should have been for the 3DS... You know, the console that ACTUALLY HAS CAMERAS AND AR ABILITIES. Nintendo really fucked up with that one...

Me: Kirby in 360° 🤥
Big brains: Super Kirby 3D World 📎
Galaxy brains: Kirby's Third Person Camera 360° 3D Game 😎
(AW SNAP! Windows 11's wiggly paperclip with eyes got erased by some gbatemp mod and replaced by a dull paperclip. WHY?!?)
(Also, needle returns yay!)

Ooh this is looking like a good one, Kirby finally gets his next leap forward. Seems maybe this is using Mario Odyssey's engine/assets as a base instead of BotW's like Legends Arceus is trying to do, but regardless there's no denying how much more alive and vibrant this looks overall.

i highly doubt pokemon legends runs on botw engine or that kirby runs on odyssey engine, they are 2 games that are aesthetically close to others released already, but i doubt they share engines.

I mean you've essentially got two major game engines that run on the Switch, Unity and UE4, so my assumption isn't too far out of the realm of possibility. Game Freak just doesn't seem to be as talented on the technical side of things as a lot of other teams at Nintendo.

Game freak always uses their own engines for pokemon games tough, so idkn, do remember if they used unreal or unity they would have to pay royalties and nintendo doesn't like to pay royalties specially on games that will sell 20 millions plus copy's easily, that is alot of royalties.

AFAIK neither engine requires developers pay royalties, that would only apply to using licensed assets, code, etc. Nintendo builds their games from the ground up, but it's still UE4/Unity at the base of them.

A new Kirby game! I loooove Kirby; it's one of my all-time favorite gaming franchises! :D It's one of the series that I pretty much try to collect every game that's been released.

Quick, somebody leak it so we can play it NOW!!! :P

afaik no game freak developed pokemon game was made using unreal or unity or else they would have to say the engine in the credits.
