Mega Man ZX gets a playable Fandub mod

After almost 3 years in development, the Mega Man ZX Fandub project is finally finished and out to the public. User CrossTrash, alongside a wide range of fan voice actors who worked on the dub, finalized the work on the dub, which can be installed using the Fluffy Mod Manager, and patches the Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection release of ZX. It's currently unknown whether or not the fandub is compatible with the original DS release, but with some proper romhacking, perhaps it could be possible.

While the dub is currently at v1, the author mentions that there's a couple of issues with the first release regarding some unbalanced audio in the later half of the game, and some audio files being corrupted or missing due to errors with Audacity. CrossTrash hopes to update all of these issues within a week from the v1 release, so those interested can keep track on the project for the eventual fixes update.

This is cool but ZX is such a meh game. Probably has the worse map in a game ever with trying to navigate and the game doesn't really gain anything from being a Metroidvania compared to the usual Megaman affair.
by the way, the fan project "mega man x corruption" seems to be taking that aspect of the ZX and doing it right. but who knows, we only saw a 1 hour gameplay XD

Wow, that's pretty cool. Megaman ZX was definitely a game that should receive a proper American dub, although only its sequel, ZX Advent, received one.

I was one of the ROM hackers that released the undub version for DS platforms, together with our PT-BR translations. We did that by getting the Japanese ROM and replacing some of its files with the ones from the American version, and implementing a few ASM routines to make sure the game won't crash at specific moments. However, making a proper fandub for the DS versions will require creating audio and/or video files from scratch (with a few proprietary codecs and SDK files as well), so it's something kinda harder to be achieved.

There are also a few friends of mine who want to create an alternate PT-BR fandub for this game, and they even managed to make it work in the Legacy collection to some extent. Gotta reach them eventually and see how far they progressed on it.

I'm pretty sure nobody asked for this, as we typically prefer Japanese dubs.
The art-style might appeal to a younger audience, and having an english fandub might help them to enjoy the game more... :) I'm guesstimating though since I've never played this game.
