Not discontinued officially, but I won't update my uTorrent version beyond the last good version, v2.2.1
The 3.x line bloated it up with adware and other garbage, and v2.2.1 is rock-solid stable. And the best alternative (qBittorrent) freezes up all the time with no known way to fix it, and everything else by comparison just sucks.

So to me, modern uTorrent is dead, but v2.2.1 keeps on truckin'.

Skype also died for me when M$ bought it and took over.

Adobe Flash? if that counts.. by now i definitely don't think anyone misses stuff like the early versions of Pro Tools/Sound Tools when it was still Digidesign, so that doesn't really count.

Skype is still being developed, but you can no longer do free calls unless you pay for a subscription.

I use qBitTorrent, it saves me from all of the spyware and ad-ware that uTorrent has.

Eew.

qBitTorrent freezes up on my constantly to the point that it's unusable, and many people all over the world also experience it. It's worthless until they fix it. And stick with uTorrent v2.2.1, it won't force you to update or anything. It's the last version without any of that adware crap in it. "The last good version".

I frankly have no issues with it. But uTorrent would keep throwing up license agreements and adware shit, then they've been caught stealing data and all sorts. The rabbit hole goes wild.

Nobody ever uses it anymore, haven't done ever since 2015.

Windows 7.
And after that for me, it'll be Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC which has extended support until 2029.

Yeah, I'm good for another six years, but then what... It'll either be Windows 12 if it's actually good or finally go the Linux route.

It does whip the llamas ass frfr. Best media player ever than VLC.
I've been using K-Lite Codec Pack with MPC-HC for many years now, well, I used to use CCCP until it was discontinued.

AIO media players for me are on Android boxes/devices just for convenience.

Microsoft Messenger, but I am probably just nostalgic for those days :P

Same I loved the MSN days. It was so much better than the social media platforms we have today.

I don't really watch live tv anymore, however I was also a big fan of Windows Media Center back in the day. LibreELEC (Kodi + Tvheadend) gets you pretty close to the same experience now, however for a long while after Windows Media Center was killed off nothing else came close to the functionality / ease of use that provided out the box.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
