Lawsuits are pending in several states that seek to keep Trump from appearing on primary ballots next year. Most efforts have failed at the state level, barring Colorado whose supreme Court has chosen to ban Trump from the election next year pending a Supreme Court ruling.

The effort to take Trump off the ballot in Michigan previously was struck down 3-0 by a Michigan appeals court, and today the Michigan supreme Court refused to hear an appeal. As such Trump will appear on Michigan ballots next year. Michigan is expected to be a swing State next election and could theoretically be decisive in the electoral college.

The legality of these ballot bans remains to be decided by the SCOTUS.

As someone posted, it is effectively a delayed decision than a final one.
It's a final decision for this lawsuit

If they wanted to challenge Trump appearing on the general ballot they would have to create a new lawsuit after he was chosen as the party nominee (In 6+ months)

So yes it is final for this lawsuit

But yes, they could always make a new lawsuit

But by 6 months from now the SCOTUS will have made a decision which means any further Michigan lawsuits would not be possible (so yes for all intents and purposes this is final)

I'm glad.... If the people want trump, they shall have trump, there's the electoral college or however it's called anyways, they can always call him unconstitutional if they have solid evidence that proves that he's evil or something or whatever they're trying to frame trump for rn

This statement is a contradiction. The people didn't want Trump in 2016.

Right, he won via the electoral college but not the vote of the people. The people rejected Trump.
I remember the difference in votes between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump nationally being less than the difference in votes in California alone.

Hillary ClintonDonald TrumpDifference
National65,853,51462,984,8282,868,686
California8,753,7924,483,8144,269,978

I grabbed the numbers from a popular votes pdf (pg 11 of the pdf has the breakdown) that can be downloaded from a link within this article under the 2016 Election Facts header: https://www.270towin.com/2016_Election/

I'm not sure that quite qualifies that the people of the United States of America rejected Donald Trump in 2016, though I would readily accept, without hesitation, that the people of California rejected Donald Trump in 2016, rather decisively too.

Ah, the "but California" cry. California citizens are still US citizens.

Federal issues affect everyone.

Which doesn't make sense on a federal level. Why do Wyoming voters have 37x the voting power of California voters when it comes to the presidency? It's lunacy.

I could be a prick and demand a source, but I'll just skip to the end ... I know this argument and even if you want to think that way, it's more like a Wyoming voter has 3.6 times the voting power of a California voter. Not 37 times more.

I guess if you want to be more dramatic about it you could say they have "360% more" voting power.

The catch is, if you eliminate the electoral college, states like Wyoming with very low populations will have no voting power whatsoever. Maybe you think that's ok though.

I think it is to prevent ochlocracy. A solution would be to decentralize governance, thus preventing the threat of Wyoming imposing irrelevant and adverse Wyoming policies on California and vice versa. This should then reduce the imposition of policies that, while beneficial for certain populations, are adverse to other populations, thus reducing tyranny. Unfortunately, neither the Republican Party nor the Democratic Party wish to relinquish the powers that have been creeping away from the 50 states due to lazy complacency of the people and the powers that have been unconstitutionally accumulating in the POTUS for decades, possibly a century now, by abusing emergency powers.

Anyway, discounting California, Donald Trump then had a 1,401,292 lead in 2016. I think it would be safe to conclude that the people of the United States of America chose Donald Trump in 2016, while the people of California decisively rejected him. A greater than 4 million difference in a single state ought to be a significant outlier, especially when it is 1 in 50 values. No single state should have the burden, not privilege, of speaking for the entire nation. We can then conclude that the people of the United States chose the current partisan circus, that ought to merely be a late night farce for entertainment, and grievous partisan divide yielding hyperbolic rhetoric it is experiencing. Unfortunately, habitual partisan rhetoric further exasperates this affliction as the hyperreality presented in the simulacrum of infotainment feeds, and voraciously consumed, is affirmed as reality.

It makes no sense that blue states bail out red states (as they pay less than they receive) yet get to dictate who ends up president by way of the EC, which in turn resulted in Roe V Wade. Anyway it was a response to the people wanting Trump and the people do not want Trump.

Wyoming voter has 3.6 times the voting power of a California voter. Not 37 times more.
Also, whoops and fair callout. Missed the decimal.

the only truly democratic outcome - the people should decide who they want, not the courts.
And not fake electors or violent insurrectionists, which is exactly what we'll be dealing with all over again if Trump is on the ballot. He's incapable of learning from his mistakes or self-improvement. It's not "democratic" to let a wannabe-dictator end democracy altogether just because we were too timid to enforce the constitution.

The catch is, if you eliminate the electoral college, states like Wyoming with very low populations will have no voting power whatsoever. Maybe you think that's ok though.
Incorrect, each Wyoming resident would have exactly one vote's worth of voting power like everybody else. When you're used to special privilege, equality feels like oppression.

Trump has made no secret of the fact that he's anti-democracy, whether it be through his words or actions. Therefore you can't be both pro-democracy and pro-Trump. You can claim to be both these things, but you'd just be exposing your own hypocrisy in the process.

I think Trump shouldn't be allowed to run because he is a traitor. He's damn lucky even to be alive right now, let alone be considered eligible to run again. Yes, I do believe encouraging people to overthrow an election is treason.
