I was watching my life in gaming and they were talking about making your gameboy experance better using swiss and the gameboy interface.
Is the detal sd reader what im looking for?

The Datel SD media launcher is one way to launch homebrew on an unmodded gamecube (you can also play backups but the compatibility is not so great) but is not the only one. You can find more way to softmod your cube here:

Yuo will need an SD card adapter, a memory card and a modded wii or another modded gamecube to put the necessary files on memory card.

Obviously a modchip is always the best solution.

To launch the gameboy interface simply follow one of the many guides on the net about launching homebrew with the sd media launcher but it is very easy: format the card, put the file you want to use and boot the Datel disk, IIRC there is a nice and easy menu to select which file you want to boot.
