Hacking Nintendo 3DS on firmware Ver. 4.1.0-8U where do I go with this? Update? Yes/No?

My only objective is to get .cia formatted games to be installed through FBI and run no problem. I have no need for anything else, i already loaded my 128GB memory card and have the .cia files ready to go...please some guidance would do me well. I don't know where to go from here.

Does your 3DS already have hacks?
If not, dont update, go to https://3ds.hacks.guide/installing-boot9strap-(soundhax)
The guide installs some other stuff but you can delete it with fbi

The fact that OP was posting about different version 11.6 and was wanting freeshop at that point. 2 months ago. Kinda says a bit that OP was already pointed towards the guide. That should of been a good starting point for them to check to see what they could do.

@CrispyCola I do not currently have any hacks installed on this particular 3ds I was just unsure as to where to start I've got another 3ds that runs games flawlessly just hoping for the same with this one.

Was reading a bit too fast my bad I shouldn't have even asked that last question.
Here's a question though will I be able to run "new" games on this 3ds once I mod it?
Meaning titles that have just come out?

Just realized updating means I'll be on the newest firmware and they will work. lol

Also, I think there's a little something wrong with my 3ds I have 3 black icons lingering underneath my System Settings
Like 3 game titles that aren't titles, they're just filled in black game bubbles??
any idea what that could be from and if it's something to worry about?

The boxes will go away when you update, like the guide tells you to.
