Not sure what exactly you mean by that, but yeah I have a few. I don't know which ones are necessary, but I have the homebrew channel installed, and I just installed D2X on the appropriate stubs yesterday. The drive was working fine until I formatted it a few days ago (knew it was a mistake, just didn't know it would be this much of one). I'll make a dump of my Wii's setup so you knowledgeable people can point out any mistakes I might've made.

Have you tried an actual hard drive? Flash drives don't generally work very well if at all on Wiis.

I have an external but it's not feasible to use a bulky 1TB ext HDD on my Wii, especially when I use it exclusively for Project M. I bought this flash drive specifically for use with the Wii because it's tiny and therefore portable. :/ Is there any reason the drive would be working before a format but not after?

Your d2x cIOS in 249/250 is old. Update it to at v8 or v10beta52. I'm not sure what the problem is with your drive. I don't really troubleshoot those. You might be able to get it to work by partitioning it as WBFS instead of FAT32/NTFS.

Formatting as WBFS wasn't working earlier, but I fixed the error - must've had files open when attempting to format, which was causing WBFS Manager to cry. At this point I'll settle for anything that lets me play again, will update if it works.

This post from Cyan has the files/details. If you're only putting one game on the stick it doesn't matter, but WBFS Manager has a habit of corrupting stuff. Wii Backup Manager is a better option.

I'm completely stumped with Genesis Plus GX, I cannot get it to work on my Wii at all. The emulator runs fine but the games cause the Wii to turn off whenever I try. Not sure if it's relevant information, but I have a SDHC (16gig Sandisk) and every other emulator I use works just fine. I followed along with Youtube videos for the HBC install so whatever IOS they said to use by default is what I chose. I have a 64MB SD card that I haven't tried Genesis Plus GX on yet (if that would even make a difference) but I'm about ready to give up on it and just play the ROMs on my desktop. Anybody have any ideas I can try?

So I am using a non-SDHC card and I just discovered on accident that the games seem to be running just fine, but my Vizio TV decides to tell me "No Signal" when I load a game from Genplus. Hilariously I just pushed the home button on my Wii controller exasperated and didn't immediately get up to reset my Wii like I normally would, and suddenly the pause menu popped up with General Chaos running in the background. A major "wtf" moment for me. Maybe it's been running this entire time?

I do plan on trying this again with my SDHC card (16gig versus this 64mb non-SDHC card) to see if it's the same thing happening, but if so, I wonder if there's a video setting I can change to make my TV run with it. If not maybe I can try a computer monitor or something instead. This is a huge step but super bizarre and super inconvenient. BUT I'll take it if this is still going to work! If you (or anyone else for that matter) has any idea what I could do with video settings to try and get my Vizio to recognize there's still signal coming through, please let me know. I'm gonna do a little troubleshooting with my actual composite cables from Wii-to-TV and try another TV/Asus computer monitor and see what happens. So random.

It's easy, ModMii does not install onto your computer, it just gets downloaded to it. Go to your Drive C directory (assuming you didn't change the default location) and you'll see the directory ModMii. Just delete that and that's it, it'll be gone. If you have any desktop shortcuts just right click and delete those a well...

I personally would not buy a already modded console. It's easy enough to do it on your own that buying an already modded one would just be a waste of money. There are many of tutorials online on how to mod your Wii and get everything working. If you're trying to play retro games an original XBox would be a much better choice. Developing for the console is extremely easy so lots of great emulators exist for it.

I recently found an SD card lying around my house that was apparently once used in my Wii. I've been looking into it's contents and I found a directory named /Private/wii and it contained a number of subdirectories in it that had what I think are title IDs of some sort. For example,

What do these IDs mean and where can I find more information about them?

But what are the cios bases I don’t know what it mean.

I put a couple of backups on a USB stick, using NTFS, and upgraded usbloadergx but its having issues lauching games and also its linda unstabe.

Anyway, my Wii version is 4.0E which is pretty dang old. I don't know what iOSs or whatever I have on there now. There is nothing on the Wii I want or need, how can I like get it running cleanly, or update it without breaking it? My goal is to play the backups I have of my discs because I am way to lazy to swap discs....

A perfectly valid option is to just update it the official way and re-mod it from scratch (letterbomb exploit, HBC/BootMii, D2X v8 cios, update any homebrew you already have, install newest Priiloader)

But the Wii is rather modular and there are multiple, all valid, ways to get to the same result (like updating the HBC first to avoid having to reinstall it)

A CIOS is a modified official IOS (usually with trucha re-enabled, permission checks disabled, hacked optical drive drivers, ...)
The brand and version of CIOS you install determine those patches (both their selection of, and their implementation); but since they are patches and not fully homebrew IOS replacements, the rest of the code comes from (typically) an official IOS of your choice: and that's what's called the base IOS

Compare to how Nintendo fixed the trucha bug: they first invented IOS37 which fixed it, then in the next update they ported the fix to (almost) every other IOS - just the fix; they didn't simply copy and paste IOS37 over the others, as some of them have significant differences that may have broken software designed for the older ones!

And the same is true for CIOS - your choice of base effectively influences game compatibility
