Adventure fans you read right ! The classic bloody gore sex fetish PC game Phantasmagoria part 1 and 2 are playable on your PS VITA or PSTV with the updated version of ScummVM v2.7.0. Maybe some one remember this games was released on insane 7 CDRoms or 5CDRoms ! I was also try this games on my Wii and PS3 with DosBox and the result was not good. The VITA seems the first one with the best possible result. ScummVM was having tons of problems with Phantasmagoria, but since the update from 2.6.0 its working and with 2.7.0 a lot of fixes right now. This games are so big and intense, so just create a own topic.

Original Phantasmagoria Updates :
http://sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/Patches-Updates-Games/PhantasmagoriaSeriesUpdates.html

ZIP File Phantasmagoria Patch (PHANPAT) (ZIP file) [795 KB]
This patch updates version 1.0 to 1.1. It fixes out of memory messages with excessively large bytes requested, the missing spell book picture in Chapter 7 has been added, the setup problem with demos, and case 1 overrun and other CD read errors. Objects can no longer be picked-up during the Chapter 7 chase scene and it corrects the error 29 lockup when using SoundBlaster 16 DSP version 4.05.

Also, for the WIN 95 version, this patch fixes occurrences of an "error 47, not an object" when clicking on the door to the computer room in chapter five. It also addresses a rare problem which caused palette trashing when saving and restoring games.

Phantasmagoria 2

ZIP File Phantasmagoria II - DOS Support for Windows XP (P2DOS-XP) (ZIP file) [914 KB]
Requires the Windows 95 version of Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle Of Flesh. This is an update (for Windows XP) of the original patch (above) released by Sierra. The patch will install the game and convert it to the DOS version. Read the included "XP-Patch.TXT" file for more details.

ZIP File Phantasmagoria II Sound Driver Update (DACBLAST) (ZIP file) [4.1 KB]

@ SuperDan :

Same as you, never try out ScummVM, but Phantasmagoria was new on compatible list. I have done Phantasmagoria 1 and its works perfect ! Phantasmagoria 2 I am on chapter 3 Disc 3, its the half, working perfect so far ! Amazing, million thanks to ScummVM team for the port. I had request last year a PC port of Phantasmagoria, now its working. I was not having the same good result on the Wii or PS3.

BTW :
Its highly possible that X-Files Game PC version will also work ! It was also a 7 CDRom game, great the same like Phantasmagoria. Will test later. Since the PSX copy dont work on any system correctly.
EDIT : X-Files dont work, CDRom version

! Extra Note 2 :
Phantasmagoria 1 & 2 works also on PS3 system with ScummVM 2.7.0. But textures are not so good compare to Vita system.

PS3 :
https://www.scummvm.org/downloads/
https://downloads.scummvm.org/frs/scummvm/2.7.0/scummvm-2.7.0-ps3.zip

compare texture quality Phantasmagoria 1 & 2 - PSTV - Wii - PS3 :

PSVITA/TV : has best texture quality ! 1080p / but longest loading time in the beginning
Nintendo Wii : its not a HD console, but texture quality is mostly good / fast loading time over SD Card
PS3 : texture quality is not so good compare to the VITA system / fastest loading time

EDIT :
PS2 is on version 1.7.0 ScummVM, need update for Phatasmagoria.

Extra Note :

Found a other way to get X-Files Game to work. Since the PC version is not compatible, was re-try the PSX version.

The PSX version from X-Files make a lot of problems with texture erros and missing music, on PS2 with original disc or with pops fmcb, PS3 rebug, Wii Emulation, PSVita Adrenalin, nothing works there. The ONLY way to play the PSX version perfect is over original disc and original PSX system, otherwise PC Emulation.

Emu4Vita Arch v.1.08 is the first homebrew emulator who can perfect work with the X-Files Game on the VITA ! I have done complete Disc1-4, Yeah, million thanks.
There is only one problem, I can not change the Disc over the setting menu, so Disc 1 to Disc 2. Otherwise I must try to recreate a PSX save file on the PC system and convert it to Vita back for the jump to Disc 2,3,4.
Otherwise X-Files Disc 1 German PSX PAL fully working now on VITA !

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
