PS3 Slim , no wifi , no blutooth?

My sons ps2 died, it stopped reading discs. So, I replaced it with a PS3, about a week later I decided to run it wired to my BT smart hub. All was fine for a day or so until the controllers failed to sync. I tried to connect wirelessly and nothing.
So far I have done a complete reset, it ran for 18 hours, upon completion it was able to see my bt hub and connect , then after a few minutes it went back to not being able to connect. I tried another full reset but this time it didnt work.

To me this looks software related, or settings related (im not savvy to these things) as a dull reset did fix it the first time around.

If I try to connect on Easy mode it just hangs there checking network configuration.

If I go custom I get to 'scan' then get this,

If I hit circle and try again I get this,

My son is six and there is a fair chance he may have adjusted some settings without knowing he did it, but would this have carried over on a factory reset?

If it is hardware related I believe the wifi/BT is on a module on the mother board and not a seperate card , I also believe there are two antennas , could the issue be with the antennas?

The unit also seems to be getting hot, just towards the very back , at the top and bottom, is this normal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So the PS3 system restore may not have fixed the issue? I assume the ps3 hard drive will need to be removed, connected to my PC then formatted?

Yes, that's the only way to completely delete the xregistry.

Thankyou, what do I format it to? fat32 or ntfs? When I put the drive back will the PS3 automatically reinstall?

Ok, so disc is backed up, its removed, its connected to a windows 10 pc via a usb-sata cable, windows ten is not seeing it , any ideas? Its in device manager but not in my pc.

don't activate it. use ps3tools hdd tool along with your erk. if you don't have your erk, I'm afraid the only way to get it is if your console at least powers on, which it does, right? dump it with evilnat's cfw tools or rebug toolbox.

You mean game data? ive backed the drive up to a sd casrd, or do you mean important system dada?

well, there will be no data on the hdd. if you backed it up, don't worry. there's a way to restore it. I don't remember much about backup/restore though, it's been years.

If its just game data im not really too worried, ive only had the machine for a couple of weeks, there really isnt much on it.

I found this tutorial , I may have to install the update from SD card.

Nope, stuck on update loop , error code 8002F1F9 , looks like the wifi module may be bust.

That sucks.

The good news is that PS3 consoles are pretty cheap now. If you buy one, buy a CFW-compatible model so you make the most of it.
