Hi, i have PS3HEN running on a 12GB Super Slim and now runnong out of space with less than 3gb remaining.

I have a 32gb USB stick and 4tb Western Digital portable hard drive.

I tried to follow a guide to install games on external fat32 USB, e.g. a 9GB PKG, the issue is that using prepISO there is an error mounting it, presumably as it uses internal hard drive to mount for which I do not have the space (less than 3gb internal hdd) to mount a 9gb file.

I have seen a guide that allows external usb as ntfs using iso's only for ps1 to ps3 games. Does this also using a mounting system to use the internal hdd or is it all based on the external drive.

I feel like I should have bought an internal hard drive and installed Hen on that but since I have external hard drive and usb, these would be a better option.

Any help is appreciated thanks.

Portable hard drives are just internal hard drive in a shell. You can just undo the shell and pop them in. I read that Ps3 hard drive drives are limited to 2gb but theorytically if you make a partittion that size it should work. Or just buy a 1tb you will be safe with that its way enough.

I see, only issue is that its a 4tb in a fixed enclosure. Is there no way of using it as an external while I have 3gb of internal space left?

If I buy internal then I would have to uninstall hen then re-install it?

You can either change your PS3 internal hdd, iirc there's tutorials to do that without needed to reinstall everything.

Or you can just use an external hdd formatted as ntfs with an MBR partition table and use an homebrew like webMan to load the games from it. Note that the PS3 won't recognize partitions bigger than 2 TB from what I heard.

Using webMan with iso or folder format games use only the external hdd so you won't be limited by the size of your internal hdd, though it only works for PS3 games (not PS1/PS2)

Ok thanks

UPDATE - No need to reinstall hen or anything. I installed a 480gb ssd and it gave option to install items on ineternal 12gb flash onto new hard drive and all transferred over and working fine including hen.
