Rainway gets its first official trailer, features the Nintendo Switch
The team behind the game streaming app, Rainway, have uploaded an official trailer for their upcoming service. The video showcases players being able to stream PC games to their Nintendo Switch, phone, Xbox One, and more. Despite featuring the Nintendo Switch multiple times in the trailer, the end of the video does not show the Switch next to the other platforms listed (Firefox and Chrome web browsers, Xbox One, Windows, iOS/Mac, Linux, and Android).
When questioned on this fact on Twitter, the Rainway Twitter account said that the beta for their app is only on platforms that currently include a functioning web browser, and that Switch support is still in progress. Though the Switch does technically have access to a web browser, it's not a full feature.
Rainway currently has no scheduled release date, and though work is being made on a Switch app, there is still no confirmation from Nintendo that this will even be allowed on the eShop.
Our tech works. You've seen it, you just saw more of it. We've reached out to Nintendo with our proposal, went back and forth and we are awaiting confirmation for a possibility of a native eShop release. We've always said this. If we get a green light to build a native app, awesome. If not we still work through the web browser just fine. That is how our device agnostic tech works.
