Or ban the ps4 mac address from going onto the internet at all, if your router supports it.
A cheap "cable router" with openwrt is quite useful, even if you plug into an adsl router from your isp.
Oh Yeah, I forgot about that.:)
I used to have my PS4's mac addresses filterd in my router but I just stick to the AlAzif DNS to block Sony servers now because I need internet access for some stuff I do from time to time.

But yes, adding your PS4 to the mac filtering of your router is a good way to go to block all internet access and still keep your normal access for FTP etc..

First thing I did when I received my PS4 on 5.53 in kiosk mode.
Full LAN capabilities, no internet at all. :)

As I'm new to jailbreaking PS4, my NAS hopes it'll be able to install pkgs over FTP/SMB.:)
...so hyped for 6.72 exploit, to enable debug-mode, disable that freaking hiosk/IDU and to run PS-Phowar on it. :)

^^ or connect the ps4 via ethernet directly to the pc ?
Why? This is totally inconvenient.
I have 4TB NAS and fully scriptable MikroTik router so I don't have to do any additional ad-hoc tinkering.
I do like "Setup once and forget" policy as well as utilising my 1gb LAN in full capacity.

Leeful, i cant understand the reason to have to use these DNS you said. We can install PS-Phwoar! using the userguide

So can you pleare finally explain why you said that point ?
thx in advance

The only reason I said that is because it is generally good practice to have Al Azif's DNS on your network connection to block access to Sony servers to avoid the PS4 downloading a system update file in the background.

If you use another method of blocking internet access like mac filtering on your router, direct ethernet cable or ESP for example you are fine.
It is not a necessary step, I was just trying to keep you safe.:)

Even if for whatever reason the update was downloaded it doesn't really matter because once you run update blocker it would delete the file anyway.:)

Hey man,

I have problems with ps4remotepkgsender (on pc) and remote pkg installer (on ps4). Sometimes ago, I could send pkg from pc to ps4 just fine. But today sony servers take control of the pkgs which are being sent over local network. Normally, ps4remotepkgsender sends download command to ps4 with chosen pkg and it will be installed properly on ps4, now it sends the file only around 30-40% then suddenly stops, there's no network activity of the ps4remotepkgsender (on pc's task manager), but on ps4, the game is still downloading from sony servers when I check (original fpkg is ~4GB but on download notification, it's ~7GB which I'm pretty sure it is being downloaded from sony.

To fix that, I reconfigured network by adding al azip dns servers to DNS1 and 2 on network settings, everything is working properly now.

But I have some questions, why it happens now but not before? Do you know something has changed?

And before adding al azif dns to fix that, I tried to use mac filter on my router but the ps4 couldn't receive download command from ps4remotepkgsender, I thought after being filtered by mac address, the Ps4 should be able to connect to local network but not the internet. Therefore pkg remote installer should work as usual.

ok Leeful, other possible way to do that point you said is setting up ps4 DNS 1 to the pc lan ip, that is where the userguide or browser host is running. By that way i think that the console cant reach sony's severs...
And other possible way is the mac filtering, it we filter the address that can access the network, we can let ps4 address out of the filtering....

Yeah, I think the same thing happened to me.
I'm 99.9% sure at first when I used remotepackagesender I was using mac filtering on my router to block internet access to my PS4 and it worked fine then. I did'nt use if for a while and then I noticed that it would not work anymore.
I now just use Al Azif's DNS and everything is fine. Something must have changed.

Yes, this is how I have mine set up. I have DNS1 set to my PC IP and DNS2 set to Al Azif's.

That way if I want to connect to an online web address on my PS4 it first tries DNS1, fails, then tries DNS2 and successfully connects.
But If I try and connect to my PC address for FTP or my Host servers etc. it connects directly using DNS1.

This method is not safe for everyone because some people might have 'Internet connection sharing' enabled on their PC. If they did then the PS4 could connect to the internet through their PS4.

^^ just precissely i dont trust external DNS, and for that reason your hosts to do it in a local way is the most wanted way in my case :)

Leeful i am preparing all to perform the big work... but i did remember that you have said to add to your xploit host the DLC dump feature... I am guessing how goes that.... It's the only dumping feature missing now in your tools.

Sorry, I never got around to making a DLC dumper. There's too much going on at the moment to even think of doing that yet. :)

^^ you meaning about converting payloads to 6.72, isnt it ?
Yes:D.
To be honest it's not worth it with state of the 6.72 exploit as it is now.
The success rate is depressing.

I would treat this release as an just an early BETA test. It's great that it is out there because now more people can work on it to make it better and more stable.

Lucky for me I still have 2 other consoles on 5.05 so all is not lost.

My advice for anyone who has only one PS4 and it is currently on 5.05 is to wait and do not update to 6.72 yet.

Things will get better, I'm sure.:)

Guys, as long as I remember to clear cookies, success rate is quite high for me today. Also console keeps the exploit awoken from sleep mode.

also you said...

'Now set up your internet connection so you can install PS-Phwoar! Remember to use AlAzif's DNS if you are not using ESP.'

and why not install it with the other methods ? I guess the browser wont work because profile is not activated... but what about the 'UerGuide' way ?
Browser works fine straight after initializing system.

I want a handheld gaming system with a tablet sized screen, like a 8 or10" screen, with controllers that can detach like the Switch.

I don't see the buzz about a square screen personally. I think there will be a review on the site within a few weeks though if you are interested.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.

I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length

All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it

My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go
