Of course, I have 3 macs and love em'
Yes they are overpriced and underpowered, but I'd choose it over Vista anyday,

All are compatible, except maybe Soldier Front ( Haven't heard of it, So I dont know)
and Portal, I dont think it has a Mac port, the rest are all Mac compatible,

I'd make the move,

If it's Windows you're sick of, give Linux a try first. It's free after all, and many distro are pretty well polished and pretty.

its requires a lot of technical knowledge and is way too easy to fuck up but is a great middle ground.

No it doesn't.

They released an installer that runs off a flashdrive that does pretty much everything for you.

I'm running that on one computer and Vista on the other. If you can partition your drives to have both OS'. you'll be a very happy Ducky!

In my HS, we all use Macs. I've seen the prices on these things, and OH GOD, IT'S FUCKING EXPENSIVE. They're ok, but not worth over a thousand bucks.
Though, I'd stay with the XP if I were you....

I say if you want to switch to Mac, try a hackintosh first...I own an iMac and a gaming PC right now...but I would definately choose Windows Vista x64 over it. I simply don't like how a Mac works.

You may think differently.

You could always try Ubuntu with Beryl

Heck even I'm tempted to try Beryl

Macs are really good but be warned that a lot of games doesn't exist for macs.
For what you have there:
Emule -> Amule
Bittorent -> Transmission or other clients
iTunes -> iTunes
Opera Browser -> Opera
Soldier front(online game) -> I don't think it's Mac compatible
World of warcraft -> World of Warcraft (it's Windows/Mac on the same dvd)
MSN -> Adium or aMSN or Microsoft Messenger
Skype -> Skype
Portal -> Doesn't exist for Mac but works great with Crossover Games (to run windows games under mac)
Call of duty 4 -> you have to buy the Mac version
Photoshop -> Photoshop

If I were you I would dual-boot (which is what i did) with Ubuntu and a very slimmed down version of XP for games (google XP Performance Edition)
Emule -> Amule
Bittorent -> i recommend utorrent with wine, worked well for me.
iTunes -> AmaroK (only the best media player ever)
Opera Browser -> Firefox 3
Soldier front(online game) -> On your XP Installation
World of warcraft -> On your XP Installation
MSN -> Pidgin should suffice
Skype -> Skype
Portal -> On your XP Installation
Call of duty 4 -> On your XP Installation
Photoshop -> Gimp (this maybe a problem for you because Gimp is so different to Photoshop)
Just my 2 cents

Basically all the software you mentioned is able to run fine on a Mac, however just make sure it's an Intel mac (that's all that's out nowadays), since for the games you can simply run a "Cider" port to play them. Google it

And really if you have the money then go for it, because they are expensive... Just don't buy the additional parts from Apple (such as hard drives, memory, etc) because they will screw you over. Heck for 4GB of 800MHz FB-DIMM for my Mac Pro, Apple wanted $500. I flipped them the finger and bought better FB-DIMM's for $179 for 4GB

And don't get the Apple Care either -- It ain't worth it.

OSX86 is definitely the way forward. You get the Mac OS (which is far superior to windows) yet you get to choose your own hardware (well, more choice than with a real mac anyway).

Moved to iMAC 1 year ago.. Found 100% of the same stuff I need as far as applications go, converters and tools and never going back to windows..

I love having a virus, spyware, and bloated slow Registry free machine that "JUST WORKS" all the time...

Agreed. Macs are too much money. 3 grand for the beastly laptop that i use to check this site and my email. just build one from new egg and install linux.
