Simple guide to install cIOS on vWii + backup NAND and keys

I ran through the steps & so far so good.

I am using my USB drive (WD Passport 3200) that I was using on my Wii with the CFG USB loader. I downloaded the CFG USB Loader70, followed the instructions & put it on the root of the SD & the boot.dol in the apps folder. I tried loading via HB Channel, it says the Device is Not Responding during the device mounting process.

I wasn't sure if I needed to place any files on the USB Drive or if I needed to change the cIOS? Or if it's the drive or I need a different cable.

if your drive is not powered, you need a Y-cable to use 2 USB ports (one for data, one for additional power)

you don't need anything on the drive (except your games in /wbfs/ or /games/ or anything else that you want to use like video or Roms for emulators, etc.)

When I plug the drive I to the Wii U it lights up.

I will look at a Y cable. Thx!!

Another question. Is there a forwarder fpr the cfg usb loader? I would like to have a channel instead of opening HB everytime.

Plus, I have tons of wads that I used on my Wii, will those work on vWii? Or do I need to get new files?

Forwarders (and non official channels) needs an update to work on vWii.
there is a thread which contains lots of forwarders for many homebrew. Look in the vWii section, thread is called "forwarders are back".

If the wads you want to install are homebrew, you need to convert them. (JoostinOnline made a tool to automate the process and convert wii to vWii channels)
if the wads you want to install are official (wiiware or vc games) then they work without conversion. They can be launched from a loader or from system menu.
I don't know if out of region games are working.

If you want to move or launch installed channels using the official SD menu, you need to patch IOS80. (be sure to follow vWii guide, not Wii guides!)

I looked at the threads on this sub forum and the op and didn't see anything that would help with what I was asking though, maybe I missed something. No need to take that disrespectful tone with me though. I know it gets annoying dealing with less experienced people but you can't take that frustration of dealing with others out on me like that.

Thanks for not being as vague and condescending as your previous post, this one is actually helpful. It would've been better if you'd dispensed with the attitude to begin with but I can't really complain.
The threads you linked weren't in the tutorials section though which is why I didn't see them since I was looking for a tutorial. It's like finding a Harry Potter book next too an S.J Rozan book. It's in the R section of the library but you wouldn't think to look there.

To be fair it was in the 'Hacking and Homebrew' Section, should be obvious to check there.

there are two guides in the FAQ sections :
- a full vWii softmod guide (with homebrew channel install steps)
- a vWii cIOS install guide (if you already have homebrew channel)

The stickies in the hacking sections are not FAQs but resume of current hacking progress.

yes, this is the program I mentioned.
just drag/drop the forwarder to convert it to vWii.

Im trying to use Multi MOD Manager for vc/wiiware wads & when I launch it, my Wii Remote won't turn on. It doesnt appear that the Wii froze, because the time ticker is still moving.

Any ideas?

Alot of homebrew doesnt work with motion plus controllers, do you have a motion plus?

Use YAWM (I think thats its name)
