when I try to load it it just says that an exception occurred

is your data.rsdk in the right place? I think it's supposed to be in SonicMania.

i'm still looking up how to obtain that file. can i somehow extract it from my Epic Store version of the game?

I don't know, but it's the same file for everything but the android version in this case.

that's probably the reason. it's intended for n3ds. it even mentions that on the github. I was just curious if o3ds worked, but now we know. thanks for trying.

i dunno if this is relevant at all from how they're developed and such, but on vita you can install mods super easily and they work. I have one to change sonics colors to something more similar to sonic 1/2, and.. some other one i can't remember one, but it was also some aesthetic minor change probably, and they both worked.
If the ports are somehow similar maybe here they work too

Would be interesting to check, because mod loader is set to 0 in Game.h or the game crashes at boot.
