I downloaded Gran Turismo 6 and wanted to put it on a USB to transfer to my PS3, but there was a file that was too big for the USB to handle. How can i split this file? (it was not an ISO, rather a Game / PS3_Game / USRDIR

IIRC there are 2 ways, one is extract the big file (it's a container) the console will read the extracted files just fine
second way, there was a way to split the big file, and you needed to copy it into your internal hdd which multiman would join back togueter the files

this is all i remember, wait until someone can give you more details

Its not a container, but rather a ''GT.Vol'' file

You could always try formatting the USB drive to NTFS and using IRISMAN's file manager (which supports NTFS filesystems) to transfer over the game to the HDD. I have done this many times with my >4GB PS2 ISO files and it works perfectly without any hassle at all.

USBs formatted to NTFS can handle files larger than 4GB, so it's worth a try.

If i format the USB to NTFS, can i also still play games from the USB? (without transferring to the PS3 first, like i can now?)

When you need a ps3 game split (like the one you described) and you don't want to use NTFS for your usb drive, google ps3 splitter. Yeah, you have to install it but I just scanned it with Bitdefender and the downloaded file came out clean (no viruses... yeah I know it's called viri). Mine has never given me any trouble either. By the way I got mine from Karmian.
Good Luck :)

FTP can send larger files no problem if you just want it copied over to your internal PS3 drive.

If you're doing it over a wifi network, might want to rethink sending something that big unless you just want to start it and walk away and do something else for long time. Even ethernet will take some time.

That's how I do it. But seeing as how your game is in JB form (i.e. unpacked into a directory) you will need to rebuild the games back into an ISO form. A 1:1 rebuild is ideal, but you can get away with a few files missing (e.g. PS3UPDAT.PUP) and some not matching checkshums (parental check stuff). More info here:

I am of the opinion that having games in ISO form is just better in general. If your games has lots of small files, HDDs will be a little slower with random seeks. It also helps with keeping the files unfragmented (sequential reading is much better).

I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol

I always thought that capcom shuffled the games in these collection, but apparently they are all in chronological order, which makes legacy collection 2 worthless
