Question: After spoofing, can you access eshop or game updates without nnu patcher?

Still currently confused why people would spoof and how its ever useful. Everything seems to work fine for me without it
No for the first part.
For the second part, from what I gather, it stops giving you update nags and auto updates, even without dns setup. DNS setup is just so that you don't update by accident, or auto update if a newer system update gets released

DAMN, I blinked and it updated to 5.5.2 and I thought it was disabled.
I am doomed and have to wait patiently to use everything now?

Just a thought and not sure if this would be possible but couldn't nintendo just bring out an update that first of all checks if the update folder is present if not the folder is recreated then the update downloads?? That is why I see it as pointless to delete the folder when you can just keep update blockers on.

The fact that we can delete the folder and it doesn't allow the update tells you that they can't apply an update.
The only conceivable way would be maybe if a new game had an even newer update than 5.5.2 that they programmed to create the upload folder and forced us to upgrade to it to play the game.

Nevermind. I was using a WUP other than the one that you included. Thanks!

Hey. I get the not a game, game update, dlc, demo or version title error whenever I try to install this. I've tried it regular WUP, and with the Y Mod version. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

And thanks, iAqua, for putting this together.

In my case, I spoofed to connect my NNID. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe I was unable to do so with NNU-Patcher.

  • Go to System settings > Update and try to update your Wii U. It will give 105-3012 error: this means that the system can download update data but it can't store them. Wii U can't re-create this folder
FWIW, the Wii U can get pissy about this - I get an error constantly and Quick Start (I don't use CBHC for reasons) gets all pissy and blinks yellow every so often.

The fact that we can delete the folder and it doesn't allow the update tells you that they can't apply an update.

Impossible.

Yes but that would require finding new offset & similar... and nobody wants to do that
Ways to try to update to 5.5.1 without having to do all the hassle are being looked into.

Try my unsafe copy of WUPInstaller from my WiiU Unbrick SSL module guide

Sorry... just confirming you're saying it's impossible for a game company to require a particular firmware before playing a game as I indicated?
No, it's impossible for them to make the disc update the Wii U when the update is a set of IOSU calls the Wii U would do to update to that version, they will fail because the data cannot be stored anywhere most likely. I mean, it's likely the disc is the install medium in which case deleting the folder is invalid, but most likely not.

why spoof when DNS blocking still does its job?
spoofing is meaningless at this point. u can still play online, and u can access the eshop with nnu patcher. spoofing also won't get around an automatic update.
There's some evidence that spoofing might interfere with disc updates, but otherwise, spoofing is currently pointless if you're already on 5.5.1.

There also aren't any 5.5.2 discs, so it's truly pointless.

Hell not sure what was going on but for like a few weeks MP3's sounded muffled, some driver or Windows update fixed it. Thank god lol

I'd sooner buy the Meze 109 Pro if I was dropping that much on headphones. I don't even like buds/IEMs
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I got the Google Pixel Pro buds, they're good enough for when I need portable audio. And some really cheap IEMs that Dankpods recommends, I think the KZ ZSN Pro

I'd stick with cheapo Chinese $10 ones quality is actually becoming on pair with name brand since name Brand usually quads the price up anyway loose one bud that's another $200
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
My Pixel Pro buds shit the bed a month or two ago. My wireless charger (which they do support Qi charging) absolutely COOKED them. Caused some problem that caused the case to heat up to 180F+
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
They were like 9 months out of warranty but I hit up Google support anyway and told them how hot they were getting and they replaced them with new ones because they wanted these for failure analysis lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    lol wireless charging
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why I can't bring myself to even spend $100 on wireless earbuds
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it's a cool idea but damn
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Apparently the case has a problem with >15W wireless chargers. Google design fault, that one.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I could live with wireless charging if the damn standard case doesn't block connection
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    how is wireless charging possible?

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@Xdqwerty, power through a coil of wire causes an electromagnetic field to be generated. Another coil of wire can be set up to harness the power from that electromagnetic field and turn it into usable energy for charging a device
