I remember everybody was moaning when some one released the e-Reader rom. Even though most couldn't use it, some people used the rom and were able to crack the e-Reader dot code.

We might not have any use for this release right now, but who knows how it might help out in the future.

u know what's interesting is most of their nfo have a modified version of ayz's pokemon pikachu inside. I guess they didn't wanna use higher ascii characters, my revision on irc is quite more updated. Though they took out part of the face, I think I stole the face off someone in #rareroms hmm... skybaby perhaps. or was it someone else I forget now.. been too long

The point of releases like this is to help the scene, not necessarily to have something new to play for people like us. Stuff like this can help the programmers and emulator developers better understand the hardware and help make emulators more compatible and what not.
Personally, I think there should be a separate release list for dumps like this. Call it the hardware-rom list or something.

This release is absolutely worthless because the Play-Yan unit also has a built-in Broadcom VC01PXX-ES2 hardware decoder to playback ASF MPEG-4 files at up to CIF (352x288) resolutions and MP3 audio off of SD cards. Check here for more information and pictures of the board.

interestingly nintendo themselves are offering 'garage games' for dl on the Playan's hp...
probably cheap tatty crap by the looks of it (suspiciously they don't have any screens at all and say you should 'look forward to seeing what they're like when you buy the playan'.....)
