Please get rid of that stupid distance fog
they increased the view range alot, the fog is still there and needs to be since it was the atmosphere of the game, but they did increase view distance and improved the light and such this will be the same hd remaster(remaster not remake)

It's twin-stick. The C-buttons acted like the second stick originally I think.
the game had several options you could use dpad to move and analog to shoot, or analog to move and c buttons to shoot or even dpad to move and c buttons to shoot if i recall.

Is it twin-stick, or point-and-shoot (a la original Doom)?
Well that sucks, then
why does it suck? lol its a standard fps and you can even use mouse and keyboard on the pc version ... the game is fully 3d not sprite based like doom, it isnt that old lol.

You've just answered your own question. Twin sticks ruined the genre for me. Doom was a masterpiece in point and shoot simplicity and as this game was old enough I was hoping it might have had a similar control scheme.

Oh well.

Can't say I've ever thought that adding the second stick/strafing made the process of 'point and shoot' more complicated. In fact it makes shooting anything that isn't at eye level a lot simpler, whereas Doom was limited to auto-aim for hitting anything above or below you. Doom's method was easier, but not simpler.

How does easy not equate to simple? You've said yourself, in Doom all I have to do is point in the direction of an enemy and I'll hit it regardless of height. How does messing about with an second stick for aiming make it in any way simpler. It certainly makes it more realistic but the last thing I want from computer games is realism. Just as I don't play racing games with auto transmission turned on, neither do I play a FPS that has an impossible (for me) control method. It's just unfortunate that this means I can't really play any FPS on any modern system.

It's more intuitive to actually point at an enemy before shooting rather than hoping you're lined up vertically below it. That's half of the point and shoot formula. The only way to get any simpler or more intuitive is to be playing an FPS with a light gun or motion controls.

When Doom released, joysticks were a more popular control method for PC games than KB+M. That was never going to last long though, as the transition to 3D gaming demanded a change in the standard control scheme.

I'm really not going to get into an argument about if using one stick or two is more or less complicated... I asked my question and got my answer. Thanks.
