Looks like some users are reporting a screen burn-in issue in some homebrew applications (actual burn-in seems to be temporary, thankfully).

Please avoid staying on a static screen for longer periods of time until we figure out what's wrong.

Issue is being looked into, seems to be temporary.

In case anyone didn't already notice, turns out the LCD panel is pretty crappy on most Switches. :-)

Pushed a libnx workaround fix for console.c that should improve the burn-in situation.

Seems like idiots will be idiots. A single piece of software doesn't cause hardware issues that others don't.

I don't own a switch, but any sensible person makes sure their screens don't go static unless they are rated for it. Only real guess here is that the HBL is somehow disabling a screensaver function, otherwise home screen would have this exact issue as well.

My tv/switch combo has burn-in issues all the time. I’ve noticed it when my kids leave it on the home screen for more than about 10 minutes.

It’s a 10 year old tv so I didn’t expect anything less, although I don’t remember have the same problems with my Wii-U.

What the... I didn't know LCDs could get burn-in. It's not OLED like the original PS Vita. Sounds fake to me. Maybe it's someone looking to prevent use of HBL (hint, hint, big N).

PS: I can't tell from that picture if it is the handheld screen or a plasma tv/OLED tv (which are severely prone to burn-ins).

That's the handheld. The icon on the bottom shows the joy-cons attached the the Switch.
Still, it's very strange that this happens to the system, and a bit odd that it wasn't known until after release, though that could just be due to specific usage and whatnot.

And you can't attach the joycons while the console is docked (to maybe charge them or to use a "Pro" controller)?
You can, but that specific icon disappears from the home menu when it's docked. It gets replaced by whatever controller(s) you're using, but never shows the actual tablet unless it's in handheld mode. Here's a picture of the menu with the joy-cons attached while it's docked. Even when it's in tabletop mode, the tablet isn't shown until the joy-cons are connected to it.

Will tiny soldering fix this problem?
When in doubt, always try tiny soldering as a solution. Stop world hunger? Tiny solder it. Trump building a wall? Tiny soldering. Randomizer complaining about things not being available on the latest firmware? Tiny soldering helps.

...And I thought they finally decided to make a decent screen for once. Shit.
well my stuff's been updated and I don't have the launcher so I guess I'm good.

Eh. The screen can tell when more than one finger is touching it. Good enough for me.

I think they're exaggerating a bit. It's obviously going to be cheap in order to get prices as low as possible to make it more accessible but it's still a pretty good looking IPS screen.

Isn't burn-in normally less visible than that and not a bright red color.
What on the Switch even displays a pattern on the left side like that for extended periods of time?
Doesn't look like any burn-in I've ever seen.

The screen on my switch is pretty good. Only loses to my phone, and it's better than the 1k Vita except for contrast.

I got my switch a week or so after it came out, how are we able to tell if our screens are good or cheap? Or is it impossible without taking it apart and checking screen models and such?
