To be quite honest, I'm here a lot and in the past few months this is really the only thing I've seen in terms of CFW wars being mentioned. I've said it before, if Luma remains one of the only CFW that is compatible with B9S you can't blame Luma. It's a "freemium"project just like all the other CFW are for the most part. Blame the devs of others for not either implementing B9S compatibility, abandoning their projects, or being riddled with useless/broken features (Looking at you RXTools).
Like someone else mentioned, the guide suggests Luma because it is (for all intents and purposes) completely noob friendly. It's like the new wave oven, you set it and forget it! The only time you even need to mess with it is when there is an update, and even then it's not always required. Some updates merely add new features or just fix known bugs, it's not always "OMG a new release, let me get it NOW!"
Which brings me to new features. Who cares if a CFW has "too many features"? Just because they are there doesn't mean you HAVE to use them. Where is your self control? If you don't know what it is, don't know what it does and don't know how to use it, then common sense says don't touch it. It's not making your CFW somehow "worse" by having a feature you don't know what to do with. That's like saying Godmode9 is useless because it grants so much access to system files and if you mess around you could brick. So, how about don't be an idiot and mess with things you don't understand.
I have only been here since last March or so, but was a lurker for a while before. I've gone from MSET/Menuhacks with Pasta/RXTools, to ReiNAND, to Cakes, to Aureinand, (to A9LH) To Skeith, and finally Luma (Now B9S) and the process has never been simpler. In my honest opinion, yes most people on the site are complete idiots because they simply refuse to read the information long enough to understand it; if at all. It's pretty telling that when the operation was more complicated there were less mistakes because you had to actually pay attention to what you were doing. Now everything is basically automatic so no one cares to read a damn thing. Do you really need multiple CFW for people to choose from when they can't even follow simple directions like "Place boot.firm on the root of your SD card."? How many new threads a day are there with the title, "Bricked! Blue light comes on and goes right off!"
There should really only be one go to CFW for the masses/newcomers. Things become a lot easier to maintain when they are uniform versus every other person here having 15 different types of setups. Good luck getting help that way. Not to mention there are tons of butthurt devs around here for whatever reason. The drama is always real, but more often than not it only takes one person to cause talented people to jump ship. To me, that says more about the psyche/mentality of the developer more so than it does the aggressive user. If half these amazing people learned how to use the ignore button, there would be a lot more options out there for experienced users. As it is right now, I don't see any other CFW making consistent commits like Luma does. It deserves it's spot in the limelight. Take it or leave it.
