Last week I played a lot of Ghostbusters on three seperate systems (shame the DS one was awful), this week is the turn of Overlord! Its a big week for Wii owners as joing Overlord: Dark Legend there is the hugely hyped "The Conduit", the long awaited Another Code R (Trace Memory 2 for you yankee doodles) and yet another rehash of the first Resident Evil game.

These dates are what retailers say is out unless stated otherwise, sometimes they make dates up for pre-ordering purposes. These dates could also be "shipping dates" which usually means that that's the date when games get shipped to stores so a game could either be in stores on that day or after. Some games may get delayed some others not listed may appear but at the moment of posting these are correct. Also just because a game is released in stores it doesn't mean that they'll appear on our internets but NA titles usually appear on our 'nets Wednesday night UK time.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

Thank you Codemasters! I really enjoyed the PC version of Overlord and I hope that this version carries its gameplay and humour with it. This is a side story from the Wii title and is said to be more adventure and puzzle orientated and instead of controlling the Overlord, you control the Minions. Looks very Phantom Hourglass to me.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Meet Giblet, Blaze, Stench, and Zap -- an elite Minion crew who, assisted by minion master Gnarl, get star billing in Overlord Minions. In Overlord Minions, the Overlord commands the Minion team remotely. The Nintendo DS stylus becomes an extension of his evil will and every precise Touch Screen command is the player-as-Overlord directing, commanding and combining minions in battle, pointing and sweeping them to attack enemies and solving puzzles to execute his dastardly plans.

Controlling the Special Farces team of four, players negotiate fiendish levels and take on a huge range of warped enemies to hunt down the Kindred, a cult dedicated to resurrecting the mighty Dragon Kin, a race of humanoid dragon hybrids, determined to replace the Overlord's despotism with their own. Extending the Overlord series’ trademark humor, gameplay focuses on the mischievous physical comedy of the minion’s antics and is delivered in a stylized cartoon visual style.

* Exclusive Overlord Adventure for Nintendo DS: Use the DS Stylus to command and combine your minions in battle and direct them to solve puzzles. Overlord Minions 100% touchscreen control system makes for intuitive, rewarding and accessible gameplay as you direct the mischievously malevolent minions through an unforgettable fantasy world
* Control An Elite Minion Fighting Force: Command a crack squad of minions who’ll take on every order with a devilish smile on their face. Whether they’re going into battle, combining to perform increasingly powerful attacks or solving puzzles, their on-going banter and playful-yet-ferociously-violent nature perfectly compliments the unfolding carnage
* Meet the Elite: Direct four of the most mischievous, malevolent and manic minions hand-picked for this new adventure. Control each minion individually or team them up to solve puzzles and perform more powerful attacks
* A new adventure in the twisted fantasy world of the Overlord: In this new story from award-winning games writer Rhianna Pratchett, the Minions must prevent Silas, head of a new Cult, resurrecting an almighty Dragon and threatening the Overlord’s totalitarianism. Prepare to battle a huge range of new enemies from infected sheep, goats, spiders, paladins, infected dwarves, mutated trolls, scorpions, winged elves and many more to take on
* Playing for laughs: Overlord Minions extends the Overlord series’ trademark humour and plays on the mischievous physical comedy of the minion's antics<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
The game is said to play great by those who have played it and retains the minion character that I've loved from the PC game.

A spin off from the Shin Megami Tensei series that is set in modern day Tokyo and you summon monsters to prevent the world from going tits up and you got to do this all within seven days...mmm sounds familar.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Tokyo is in full lockdown, the government's swift, coldblooded response to a surprise demon invasion. Trapped within the sprawling metropolis is the city's helpless populace, forced to turn on each other in order to survive. A mysterious piece of technology, the COMP, falls into the hands of you and your peers. This device allows you to form contracts, forcing demons to serve you in battle against the otherworldly creatures. There are others with COMPs, so-called demon tamers, who seek to use the demons to satisfy their own whims-be they for justice, peace, or power-in the chaos that was once downtown Tokyo. Where did the demons come from? Why did they appear? Who created the COMPs, and what is their purpose? These questions must soon be answered, for if you fail to solve the mystery, much more is at stake than your own lives.

Devil Survivor invigorates the series with an unprecedented RPG/SRPG combat system and more character customization options than ever before, all wrapped within a compelling, branching narrative. For the first time in the series, players can use a new Demon Auction feature to collect and eventually fuse demons as they seek to create the most powerful party.

* Shin Megami Tensei goes portable - The absorbing story, addictive demon-fusing, and hardcore RPG battle that define the Shin Megami Tensei experience finally arrive on Nintendo's popular dual screen handheld. Expressly designed for Nintendo DS, SMT makes a seamless transition with trademark gameplay features built into an intuitive presentation you can take anywhere
* Collect and fuse demons like never before - Demon collection is updated for a new generation: competitive bidding determines the outcome! Place your winning bid through the easy-to-use menu interface to add new demons to your roster. Then, fuse them together to create new, more powerful creatures to aid you in battle
* Hybrid SRPG/RPG combat system - A perfect synthesis of strategy and traditional RPG combat, you'll need more than the usual battle strategy to come out on top. Deployed in teams of 2-3, you must choose the right combination of human and demons for each unit placed on the grid, then prepare to launch into first person turn-based battle in the tradition of the classic RPGs
* Many possible conclusions - An epic story of mythological proportions lets you decide whether your loyalties lie with the angels, demons, or only yourself. Decisions made throughout the game will affect the course of the story, ultimately ending in a showdown where your choice of alliance will determine the survival of thousands<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Sounds generic but looks amazing and I welcome any RPG's that are set in modern day as I'm sick of fantasy worlds and that. The game has been getting some great reviews in Japan and it takes something special for me to be interested in a RPG nowadays, this could be one of those special ones.

I didn't like the last movie game on the DS but lots did. Yet again this is in the similar vein and its also out as two seperate games, one where you play as Autobots & the other you play as GoBots...I mean Decepticons.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->The fate of the earth and the survival of the human race hang in the balance in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: Autobots and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: Decepticons for the Nintendo DS. Based on Hasbro’s legendary Transformers property, the two distinct titles take players on an intense, action packed adventure that follows a similar storyline to that of the highly anticipated blockbuster film. Gamers will get to choose to protect the earth as Autobots or destroy it as Decepticons, embarking on a journey where every second and every choice makes the difference between mankind’s salvation and annihilation.

* Take On Transformers from Around the Globe – Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection allows players to help their side win the epic battle
* Play as Your Own Personalized Transformers Robot – For the first time, players can customize their own Transformers robot with a modular body part system. Throughout the game, players will have the ability to scan objects to unlock new parts and upgrade their character by installing new unlockable parts in the Medical Bay as they progress through the game
* Diverse Missions and Locales – Players will drive, fly and fight their way through over 25 single player levels across different world locations as they fight to decide the fate of the human race
* Battle With Friends – Players can challenge friends to intense, head-to-head battles through local wireless multiplayer in Deathmatch mode<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I might give it a go but I'm not expecting to like this anymore than I did with the first ones.

Overlord PC > Pikmin...yeah I went there and this is why I am really looking forward to playing this game. The series is very similar but it has a more fantasy feel and also it has very British sense of humour to it too.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Set in a time before the original game, players take the role of a new young Overlord. As he revels in command of the Minions, our trainee tyrant will be able to take his growing pains out on the local fairy tale inhabitants as he protects his castle and lands. Connecting players to the game world in three dimensions, the use of the Wii Remote gives unprecedented control over the minions. For example, individual Minions can be plucked from the horde, held by the neck and then, by vigorously shaking the Wii Remote, throttled to imbue him with some Overlordly power and turn him into a manic minion missile. With a now-explosive body, the insane little critter can be guided into enemies with hilarious, if rather fatal, consequences.
* Seize the Power: Donning the armour of the Overlord, players become commander-in-chief of a fighting, thieving and pillaging horde of crazed minions (with hundreds more waiting in reserve) – a force quite unlike any other. Send out your minions to crush rock giants, gnomes, halflings, elves, dwarves, peasants and more. Become a new Overlord, conquer realms and grow your castle from dilapidated ruins to glorious expression of your absolute power
* Pillage and destroy with the Wii Remote: Controlling the minions is slick and devastating, requiring a flick of the Wii Remote to send the raucous rabble into battle. Whether you’re swishing the remote to sweep the horde into battle or pointing it to direct magic spells and fireballs at enemies, the Wii Remote becomes the perfect extension of the Overlord's despotic will
* Throttle Your Minions: Individual Minions can be plucked from the horde, held by the neck and then, by vigorously shaking the Wii Remote, throttled! This stirs up the volatile lifeforce within them and they become a manic minion missile. With a now-explosive body, the insane little critter can be guided into enemies with hilarious, if rather fatal, consequences for both parties
* A twisted fairy tale: With a rich, tongue-in-cheek story written by award-winning games author Rhianna Pratchett, this exclusive Overlord adventure for Wii tells a new and twisted fairy tale. The lead character is in a Cinderella scenario with his elder and rather unpleasant brother and sister. He is the forgotten child while his father is away, and his wicked twin siblings are plotting to take over the kingdom with their own perverse alliances with elves and dwarves. The story game also introduces wicked witches, gingerbread men and Lil’ Red Riding Hood, the seeming sweet girl with a lupine side to her personality.
* Meet the Minions: The Brown Minions are the fighters and the strongest minions in general combat. Red Minions are fire throwers and act like archers by hurling blazing fireballs as a long range attack. Green Minions are the Assassins and love to use stealth attacks. Blue Minions are the smartest of the minions and have healing powers and can resurrect their fallen minion comrades and bring them back into the fight<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Overlord 2 is also out this week on PC/PS3/360 but this one is the one I want the most. Graphics wise it looks very good and looks a lot better in motion. Climax have put a lot of effort into this game, I don't think it'll pay off as these "gamers games" don't seem to sell well but I hope for the best. If you like this, please buy it and show Codemasters what we want on the Wii. Ngamer gave it 7.5/10 saying it would have scored higher if it was longer, to be honest with reviews nowadays I find it better to play a game if you like the sound of it. Also the game is said to be over 18 hours long...to me thats not short. I've already pre-ordered this.

*EW THE BOXART, BURN IT BURN IT!*
Ok let me start by saying I do think this'll be a good game and it should be the best FPS on the Wii (Call of Dutty: WAW is the best and that was pretty good, Metroid Prime 3 isn't a FPS, its a First Person Adventure) but I also have a PC and if this was a PC game, I'll completley overlook it. Sure the Wii can't do what the PC can but I preferred the Wii version of CoD:WAW to the PC one purely for the controls so gameplay wise I reckon we should expect something less generic.

Built exclusively for Wii, The Conduit pushes the boundaries of the platform from incredible award-winning graphics to robust controls that are customizable on-the-fly.

* Conspiracy-driven Action -- Dive into an engaging story set in modern day Washington D.C. involving secret agents, invading aliens, and centuries-old government cover-up conspiracies.
* Wii specific Controls -- Robust calibration and controls customization built from the ground up for the Wii allow you to tailor the game to your preferred style.
* Intense Online Multiplayer -- Grab your friends and join up online to battle in a variety of multiplayer modes.
* Ruthless Enemies -- Vast numbers of incredibly realistic AI enemies react to player’s moves by taking cover and utilizing elements in the environment to their advantage.
* Highly Detailed Visuals -- The award winning graphics feature dynamic environment mapping, interactive water with real-time reflection and four-stage texture composition that includes gloss, diffuse and bump-mapping.

OMG BUMP MAPPING!! Is this 1999? It does look very pretty, sort of like a very high end Xbox title. There has been several reviews now and the scores are pretty much ranging from "7/10" to "8.8" which means its at least a decent game. I do hope it sells well though so that we can get some BETTER FPS games on the Wii. This should be pretty good for multiplayer.

This isn't a remake for the Wii, its a port of the Gamecube remake which though was a fuckload prettier (still good to look at now!) it still had those terrible dated controls but with added waggle..

The department decides to dispatch another S.T.A.R.S. unit, the Alpha team, to check things out. But something goes terribly wrong.

In Resident Evil for the Wii, players now have a wide range of control options, including the Wiimote and nunchuck in combination, which lets players shake the Wiimote to ready their weapons.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
So Capcom why doesn't this include RE0 as well? Come on Nintendo have the Metroid Prime Trilogy which has THREE titles on it all of which have been enhanced for the Wii, can't you do something similar and add something more than just widescreen & waggle? Capcom, can we have an all new proper RE game now? Come on the PSP has one.

From the makers of King Arthur, Hellboy: The Science of Evil & Viva Pinata: Party Animals (the one that is shit) comes this lacklustre, cheaply produced for the Wii title. Yes Activision continues to treat Wii gamers like crap, CoD:WAW was a quality release so why can't all Activision Wii titles be like that? Take a leaf from EA's book will you.

Alright alright well it could actually be good, it isn't a low grade port of the other versions and Krome Studios now have members of the the developer who did the very good Transformers Armada game! From the trailer it looks nowhere near as good as that game but it should be a lot better than the first Wii game.

Nintendo of Europe you are not doing your job properly! The DS game was a big hit over here making the #1 all formats sales chart spot when it was released. Can't say I was into the first one (which had some very mixed reviews too) that much but I could dowith something like this for the Wii. Famitsu wasn't into it giving the Japanese version 28/40, looks like this'll have the same sort of critical response. I hope Cing do a Wii Hotel Dusk soon? No announcement of a US release just yet.

Ah.... Shin Megami Tensei... And Overlord... been waiting for them. And it seems Rogoo attack hasn't been dumped yet. Oh well.

Oh, Transformer Movie comes out this week? Yay.

Edit:

A spin off from the Shin Megami Tensei series that is set in modern day Tokyo and you summon monsters to prevent the world from going tits up and you got to do this all within seven days...mmm sounds familar.

Well, the developers claimed its more of TWEWY being innovated by the Shin Megami Tensei series than the other way round.

I really have to get Shin Megami Tensei since I didn't import it due to lack of information. Dragon Quest Wars is out in the same week and I need to input those 2 5000 Nintendo points cards I bought into my DSi.

Thank you Codemasters!
NOOOOOOO!!!!
Say thank you Holland for the good game developers who made Overlord and de Blob, guys!!!
Romino Games created de Blob and Blue Tongue Entertainment developed the Wii game. They had nothing to do with Overlord.

Triumph Studios came up with the original Overlord game and while Climax did the Wii & DS games.

Still a big thanks to Codies for actually publishing a game on two consoles where these sort ofgames struggle on.

EDIT: Oh you see they're from Holland, lol didn't see that bit. While we thank countries, we might as well thank Britain for spawning Terry Pratchett as his work is where the Overlord series takes its inspiration from.

A yummy week. Looking forward to both Overlord games, as well as seeing what improvements they made with the new Transformers DS. Of course, worse case scenario, Devil Survivor should keep me happy for a good bit. Conduit's a gimmie, but who knows when I'll get around to renting it. I was never ga-ga over it to begin with, really.

Will definitely try Overlord: Minions and Devil Survivor if I can tear myself away from Crimson Gem Saga on the PSP.

Thanks for the write-up Hadrian. Good stuff, as always.
