So let me get this straight we're not allowed to mention the name of an app, but you won't tell us the name of the app were not allowed to mention. Does anyone else see the problem with this
It's not just one app, it's all apps that allow pirating content.
So without sounding like a dick we technically can't mention Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox or any Internet Browser, all have the potential to allow piracy
You're getting into something completely different. The point of this thread is that all ANDROID APPS that allow piracy ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE NAMED. Just like ALL PIRACY SITES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE NAMED.

Oh so I can mention then cause its on IOS

No, you can't. This is the android section, this thread was aimed at android apps. I believe there's one of these in the IOS section as well. I suggest you stop being a smartass before you get warned for it.

Don't blame GBAtemp, blame the copyright laws. The only reason you're not allowed to mention them is because if we (the temp) allowed it then the whole site could be taken down.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, like I said before I just think its a huge contradiction, one post saying, "Oi you don't talk about piracy" when the next post says "How do I get round this copyright protection" and everyone, including staff all join in in determining how to circumvent specific protection. Can you not see the ironic premise of this arguement

Let me straighten this:

Can you make a tutorial for installing APKs (cracked or not, that's up to the user) here on GBAtemp? Yes, you can. As long as you don't specify where to get cracked APKs. (never mind the fact that installing APKs is trivial on any Android device, this is for getting a point thru).

Can you name a site for downloading cracked APKs? NOPE. YOU CAN'T. That's what those apps are. Sites where you can get pirated apps. Only that they're directly on your smartphone/tablet, in form of an app. But it's the same thing.

Favouriting piracy as in sharing links could put the entire 'temp at risk of getting shut down (remember Megaupload and stuff closed only because of "favouring filesharing and copyright violation"? Yes, that's the same thing) and we don't want that to happen.

Thank you for clearing that up, I'm kinda of threatened by the premise of a warning but wouldn't mentioning the name a specific app fall into the same region as releasing the name of a specific scenes release name for a game. I'm not trying to be an ass I'm just trying to identify the line as slim as it may appear. Both would allow the end user to find the fore mentioned illegality

Naming releases isn't really that useful. I mean, you can still find a pirated movie adding the right keywords on Google, and the same goes if you search for a NDS game using its entire name and adding some keyword to it.

And still, as long as we don't give out links, everything's fine.

No it wouldn't because naming the scene release file you would still have to search and find the site hosting them on your own. Where as with the markets in question they are hosting the pirated material and when named your essentially linking to them because of that fact.
