Verlaine has got a "melancholic-like" writing (did you know Verlaine was gay and was with Arthur Rimbaud ? (another writer, and the thing is ... they had a 20-30 years difference !)

Thank you, I hadn't heard of Verlaine :-) In French class in France we had to study Molière which I found difficult, since I didn't speak very well at the time :-p
