DOOM lands on Nintendo Switch on November 10

doom_2016.jpg

Bethesda won't be keeping Nintendo fans waiting long, as their upcoming Switch port of DOOM will be hitting the eShop and stores on November 10, 2017. Company 'Panic Button' (who is also working on a Rocket League Switch port) will be in charge of getting the game running on Nintendo's latest piece of hardware. DOOM will run at 30fps on the Switch, and suffer some graphical compromises, but going off of footage from id Software, it appears that the game will retain its lighting system. This game is the first of Bethesda Softwork's upcoming partnership with Nintendo, with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus releasing later this holiday, and 2018, respectively.

Sorry man, I guess you are very dense and you don't realize it but you sound like a tool and nobody can take you seriously because of the way you speak.
You may think it is not important, but just look around, there is no respect for you, it really matters. At least try.

There are many things where I may agree with you, or not, people can have different opinions. But the way you try to pass your opinions as facts and the amount of edgy language you use make your posts unbearable and imposible to take seriously. If you avoid using edgy offensive words, and just expose your opinion like a human being, people will take you more seriously. Also, it would help to stop trying to pass an opinion as fact, just say it is an opinion, don't overembellish it, and try to write your arguments in a way that make sense and can be followed with logic, not with emotion.

If you want to look what I am talking about, just look one of the many posts where @Foxi4 or @FAST6191 criticize something about the Switch or one of its games. Many times I would agree or not agree with them, but they write like human beings, grounding what they say and avoiding being so edgy.
To be fair, it's very easy to rag on the Switch because it lives in the weird middle ground between portables and home consoles since it's too bulky to be a pocket console, but a tad too weak to be a full-blown home console. The new hybrid niche is the future though in my opinion - people are more mobile than ever before and the portability is worth the performance loss, no matter how you slice the cake. I hope that with new AMD chips around the corner with lower TDP's and stronger compute power Sony and Microsoft will jump right on to that portable gravy train, I think that's the future model of computing in general.

tbf the game is rather turd it lacks a story, its just a basic shooter, doom 3 was (in my eyes) better.
You're nuts, buddy - Doom was my GOTY. The entire story of Doom fits on one page of the manual, and that's how it should be - I'm sick and tired of narrative being shoved into games that don't need it - if I wanted story, I would've bought Torment instead. All I want from Doom is fast action and buckets of gore, I don't care about anything else.

you don't see anybody complaining about lack of story in mario now do ya '_>' doom is indeed another game meant to just be fun and not push a massive rpg level story

A great way to bring a great retro shooter to modern times. If only the multiplayer held up. Oh well. Still running through the story.

Yeah, you're right! That's how it should be!
Doom is not a movie!

(I wasn't able to play it last year, but now I am tempted to get it for XB1 anyway, as T-Hug said ~5 pounds is a steal)

The APU's used in the PS4 Slim and the Xbox One S are already mobile, their TDP's fit a laptop profile bracket, there is nothing technology-wise stopping Sony or Microsoft from slapping a screen on their consoles. Nintendo are ideas people - they create interesting concepts for their consoles. Sony and Microsoft are implementation people - they take what works, add their own spin to it and make it better as a result. Even the PS Move is having a revival thanks to PS VR - the visuals were the element missing from motion control in terms of full immersion and they got there. I would also argue that Nintendo had little to do with it since the PS Move was in development for the PS2, long before the Wii was even a draft.

Wasn't it originally supposed to go with the Eyetoy or whatever that camera was called?

That's correct. In fact, in the long run the Wii as a console was an afterthought, the WiiMote made it what it was, and it was initially pitched as a GC add-on. It wasn't released as one since the GC bombed, so as a last-ditch effort Nintendo re-designed the GC around the WiiMote concept, and that's how we got the Wii - it was a GC in steroids, and not by accident, it was never meant to exist in the first place, but Nintendo thought a clean slate for their new remote would be a good idea, or so I recall. Its success nudged Sony to further invest in technology they already developed years prior - it was a motivator, not a blueprint.

We are a battery-technology-improvement step away IMHO.
They could put those into a portable format, but battery life would either suck or the battery will add a couple extra kilos to the package.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Hm.

they'll slap a screen on it alright, and a few hundred dollars too, look at the vita, I'm shocked the switch is making it with its price though it does have better perks, single screen multiplayer, easily dockable, decent size screen

The Xbox One S consumes around 50W when gaming, no more than a gaming laptop. The PS4 Slim *peaks* at around 85W, mostly due to a stronger GPU, and that's with WiFi, Bluetooth, a spinning disc and an active HDD. If you eliminated the disc drive and the hard drive, you could slash those figures down to a respectable 50 peak, both can be powered by a standard laptop battery as-is.

Never player Doom 2016, looking forward to buying it. Not sure if I'll get it at release though, money is tight.

end of the day nintendo wet fanboys will still defend this piss poor fucking console, they like to think its something innovative.

rest of the gamers know its desperate times for nintendy, they have to rely on gimmicks to make is cheap shit sell.

its game are suffering within its first year, but all the wet fanboys love it, yet rewind a few years and we find the wet boys contradicting..... proving my point.

(fyi the above was not aimed at you), but hey the switch cant even stream media.... again another feature everything else does, welcome to nintendo PAY MORE FOR LESS!

sheild TV and other devices run its games at higher resolution, clearer display, less lagg.

can you imagine this, if its hardware cant run BOTW (AT LAUNCH) and other games like LA NOIRE, FIFA, DOOM and the rest, struggle WHAT CHANCE HAS IT GOT IN 2+ years time.

WHAT CHANCE HAS IT GOT WHEN SONY/MS RELEASE THEIR NEXT GEN CONSOLE?

no point ever investing in nintendo consoles, your buying cheap shit to play the same old nintendo chit.
And I am pretty certain XboX cannot manage 4k Ultra 60.
By the time Microsoft and sony manage that we would already have 5G/ Cloud gamin while Mobile hardware have comparable performance to entry high end card and The switch's experience is a blast.
Also considering portable mode need to restrain power to prevent overheat, it's still managing better than Shield Tv in some regard. Also regarding streaming, Nvidia will not be ‘let's give NS 4k capability at the same price so they can f over shield TV’ Also what part of performance vs output don't you understand. Even intel support 4k 60 these days.

But you will need a 10 inch tablet which cobflict with their own lines of laptop, especially microsoft surface. Still waiting for surface X to happen though.

I can guarantee you that they're watching the performance of the Switch very closely to determine if it's viable to market to that segment of the market. The Vaio line is pretty much dead and the Surface is mostly business-casual, not gaming-oriented, I see no conflict here.
