Nintendo Switch Online NES/SNES games for May 2020 revealed

It's been a while since we last got some classic retro titles added to the Nintendo Switch Online library. Next week, subscribers will see four new-old games added to the service, three Super Nintendo games and one original Nintendo Entertainment System game. On the NES front, you've got Rygar, a 1987 sidescrolling platformer, while the SNES lineup includes Wild Guns, Panel de Pon, and Operation Logic Bomb. These games will be available to play on May 20th.

Wild Guns? Why would I play the original when I can get the Reloaded version. This would be like putting The Ninja Warriors Again up on the service when you have The Ninja Saviors version!
No, that's like putting three versions of the snes street fighter 2 when we already have ULTRA STREET FIGHTER II The Final Challengers & street fighter 30 anniversary collection. Or even worst, the snes version of Killer instinct instead of asking Microsoft for the arcade version. :creep:

This shouldn't surprise anyone considering they have Super Puyo Puyo 2 on snes, when sega already released the arcade version for their sega ages version. Plus there is both Puyo Puyo Tetris and Puyo Puyo Champions available, which is FOUR PLAYERS instead of two. :ninja:

Honestly, I only have online, for cloud saves. Probably not the best investment for $20 :ninja:

I know most hate for this service makes sense. But honestly, if it wasn't for this, I might have never heard or played some of these games. First time I ever played wario's woods was because of this service. It was part of the NES Remix (maybe put on switch) but that wasn't the best way to experience a game you never played before.

Honestly they should have started with stronger and more familiar titles first instead of randomly choosing ones that just seems like owning a playstation classic.

Yeah, it's not ideal. It's got me trying games i never would have...but just out of sheer lack of options. I'm not sure it's a good thing or a bad thing.

And yet they know they arent putting out shit this year and probably wont bother hire some guy to download a couple of n64 roms to put on their subpar service.

IDK, do you want this selection of games?

  • Ken Griffey Jr.'s Slugfest
  • Knockout Kings 2000
  • California Speed
  • Any of the Cruis'n games
  • Carmageddon 64
  • Super Mario 64
  • Ocarina of Time
  • Majora's Mask
  • Mario Kart 64 (and not Diddy Kong Racing or F-Zero X)
  • Paper Mario
  • Castlevania 64 (and not LoD, which, to be frank, isn't much better)
  • Paperboy64
  • Any of the two Fighter's Destiny games
  • Forsaken 64
  • Fighting Force 64
  • Rainbow Six 64
  • Any of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games
  • Turok 1
  • The New Tetris (complete with the dev rant left in the game ROM, look it up on The Cutting Room Floor for a laugh)
  • Mario Golf 64
This is the shit I could see Nintendo putting into the N64 service!

If it makes you wish you owned a bunch of the best games for the system physically, go for the Wii U VC, the SNES Classic, or just sail the high seas, then I'd have to go with bad on that one!

That list sounds too generous lolol.

Still, there's a bunch of games I left out or mentioned that would be better than what I'd think they'd give us. Like, who the fuck would ask for Ken Griffey Jr.'s Slugfest, or Carmageddon 64 (where you mow down zombies that bleed green as opposed to any other version of the game). Much like how California Games of all things is included in NES when there's other games that they could host like, say, something rare and expensive like Little Samson.

Super Mario 64 because it's a requirement, along with OOT. Majora's Mask might be too generous now that I think about it, but then again, it seems like Zelda and Mario are the two arms holding up the Nintendo ship at this point when it comes to new consoles. Everything else was looking at the random shit from the previous two collections from what I remembered about their lineups and yours truly kind of thinking of the random shit that Nintendo would think makes a "satisfactory" N64 collection.

Still the same old marketing, cattle two herds into one online milking farm: youngsters with fortnite/smash/splatoon and old farts with dusty roms.

nintendo just give us a virtual console already

Are you kidding ?
You already bought these games several times during the past 15 years on Wii/WiiU/DSi/3DS (not even talking about super mario all-stars in '93), aren't you fed up ? People are growing tired of this, Nintendo HAD to move on and find another business model in order to continue exploiting the nostalgia vibe.

Video games market looks exactly alike the international banking system or what remains of western industries, glorious on the outside thanks to shiny marketing and inflated stocks, but remain hollow shells devoided of risks or creativity. A world wide Potemkin village.

Agreed, the fact there's no cohesion with your accounts doesn't help. Like the VC games, that people purchased on older consoles should have been available from day one of them logging in to their switch.
