Chrono Trigger PC port gets update patch to fix battle UI

After an announcement that excited, and very quickly let down, fans, Square Enix released the classic SNES title Chrono Trigger on PC. This led to public outcry when people realized it had just been a port of the mobile version of the game, with multiple issues being found with the graphics and UI. Square Enix promised they would patch the game through the coming months, and they did come through when they patched in the ability to toggle the original non-remastered graphics. Now, the company has addressed the UI complaints, and have changed them to be less out of place like they are in the mobile port, and they now look more akin to the original game's UI, at least during battles.

  • A new battle user interface (UI) has been added based on the look and feel of the original CHRONO TRIGGER.
  • An option has been added to select between the UI optimised for controller/keyboard mentioned above, and the current UI optimised for mouse & touch panels. This option appears in “settings” in the main menu.
  • The game can now be paused during battle by using the pause button on controller, or the Space bar on the keyboard.
  • Adjusted the look of playable characters on the world map to be more in-line with the original version of CHRONO TRIGGER.
  • The resolution of animated cut-scenes has been improved.
  • The display area of animated cut-scenes has been increased.
  • Fixed instances where the game slowed down during certain scenes.
  • The Korean font has been updated.
  • Other small bugs are fixed.

A pause function has also been added, along with a few graphical and resolution improvements. Here's the original UI:
