BBB says so in the nfo:
ÛÛÛ ÛÛ This is a Dump from the Cart done on a Switch Console ÛÛ ÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛ ÛÛ included is the exeFS and the romFS(in .istorage) ÛÛ ÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛ ÛÛ we have chosen this because raw cart format is unique ÛÛ ÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛ ÛÛ so we removed the uniqueness and this is what we are left with ÛÛ ÛÛÛ
ÛÛÛ ÛÛ mine to your hearts content and maybe learn something

Don't know WHY they 'removed the uniqueness' as they'd probably know they need to use a burner cartridge, but that's the secure partition part. Perhaps it was removed because it was encrypted and they don't know how to decrypt it (or read it with the system decrypting it for you) but it should hardly come as a surprise that things are missing.

So, given that Switch isn't exactly State of the Art, high-end hardware, what are the chances of seeing an emulator pretty soon (next year or two)?

Low. It's not a matter of "State of the art, high-end hardware" but the game format. An emulator takes the actual ROM itself and treats it exactly like the system would.

It's the same reason that we don't have an Xbox One emulator. We can have better specs than the Xbox One easily. It is a matter of figuring out how the system handles the ROM.

Actually, I'd disagree. Chances of an emu soon are pretty high. The hardware itself is mostly based on the Nvidia Tegra X1, which is fully documented.
Since the Nintendo Switch, much like 3DS, makes use of services to abstract most of the internal system layer, we could see a highlevel emulator very soon.

In fact, CageTheUnicorn is already out on GitHub. It's an emulator the ReSwitched team built to already partially emulate the browser to help with finding exploits.

Alright. I must have misunderstood then. I highly doubt very soon because there is no reason to do it yet. Plus, it is the game format. Emulators emulate the system which plays the games. It isn't emulating hardware but firmware.

I don't think emulator emulate ONLY the firmware. It also emulate the proc, and some other thing.

That part of the NFO is pure fabricated BS. Nobody has made hardware dumps because the protocol so far is not understood. The uniqueness is a vague reference to how 3DS dumps looked when they were first dumped (something so vague that they would not be wrong in spouting such nonsense even though they have no idea themselves). The real reason they dumped it from a Switch itself was because they were given the dumping method on a silver platter by a known dev.

Question about NSO doc from switchbrew :
The "Compressed sections" start at 0x100. But in the dumps, I have found a MOD0 section at 0x103.
So, what exactly is at 0x100, 0x101, 0x102?

Glad I could help (although I stole the hint from others). The download provider actually limits the downloads to ~1 MB/s unless you have a premium account (which really sucks, because I paid for the access account about a month ago and it did literally nothing because of my internet provider (not that my internet sucks just that because it is a big provider they don't support unlimited downloads)). So it isn't your shitty internet, unless it is :P

You need to decompress the section first. But it looks like the compression algorithm hasn't been documented yet, even though plutoo did figure it out.
You could try contacting plutoo for help with the decompression?

the word is security XBone and one X iirc has a seperate processor (ARM9 on 3ds also does this) jjust for console security to prevent homebrew/piracy execution ( I have a feeling someone will create exploits through dev kit mode then it'll be fw 3.21 all over again (refering to the removal of Linux support on the PS3 )other Hard ware based secured consoles include sega saturn (which got hacked just recently) and the 360 switch probably has a weak security measure if the kernel got dumped so quickly same as the 3ds even if it took more time with the 3ds

holy fuck i had a hard time reading that.

Anyways, the Switch does have weak security. From when I talked to the ReSwitched team, they said some of their exploits were, kind of like "Really Nintendo? How the fuck did you miss that?". So yeah, but it is hardware, firmware, and software emulation they need to achieve. There have also been XBone game dumps already, so why hasn't there been an XBone emulator

3ds scene in a nutshell:

"Put a magnet here and it'll work", Nintendo 1889-2017, never understood how to make security software
