Gaming Gt6 on ps3 with ps4 dual shock controller. Controller does not work in gameplay, is there a way around this

From my understanding it won't work like a DS3 does, so it's not really a replacement. And it's not compatible with all games..

Back when I had a working Ps3, all my dualshock-3's had battery issues so I tried a dualshock-4 on ps3...

...compatability was low And most importantly the PS/Home button did Not work at all...

...meaning I still needed a Ds3 just to press the PS button in order to quit out of games or access the XMB home dashboard.
