What happens if I got a mod for 11.6.0-39u but then there was a system update???

If you've installed A9LH or Boot9strap (which you would have done if you fully followed a guide such as https://3ds.hacks.guide), it is safe to update.

As for smealum's website, we've known about it for at least three years now (probably longer - I don't remember for how long he's had the 3DS page on his Github site open).

Freakyform only give you entry to homebrew, not access to CFW

However homebrew access (or a friend with homebrew access) does speed things up with seedminer since you can dump the LFCS directly.

True, but even if you don't have either one, you can ask for help on the dedicated thread or use seedhelper (or, you could do that additional bruteforce with the Mii QR code thingy, but that's just... completely useless. I once tried it out of curiosity on my PC and it was taking ages, until I eventually gave up)

Any homebrew launcher exploit will NOT give you CFW. You need to use either seedminer or ntrboot

Wow, I just looked at it and it is WAY outdated! From January 2017! First of all, it does not actually install CFW (did you actually even read the title?), secondly, firmwares where this method works could install CFW easily following the guide.

1) Installing FBI on the HBL without CFW doesn't allow to install any non-legit CIAs, which means you can't install any homebrew applications (those in CIA format), nor you can install any """game backups""". You need to install an actual CFW (like Luma) for that.
2) Please don't follow video tutorials, as they quickly get out of date. Follow 3ds.hacks.guide instead.
3) it says right in the description of the video, that methods is only for 11.2 and below anyway

There is no way to install CFW via HBL on 11.6. The cheapest method is Seedminer, which requires a $2 DSiWare

You could always do seedminer, all you need is a 2.00$ DSIware game, and it doesn't have to be a special one game, most games will work fine. Also if you cant do it yourself, I'm sure somebody would be willing to help.
