PlayStation is further expanding its foothold in the eSports market with the acquisition of Repeat.gg, an eSports technology platform. Repeat.gg has hosted more than 100,000 leaderboard tournaments that aim at making eSports more accessible.

"Together with the talented Repeat.gg team, we're excited to explore more ways for players to engage in competitive gaming and expand the breadth of our esports offerings," said Steven Roberts, vice president of global competitive gaming at Sony Interactive Entertainment. "This is just the start of our journey and we look forward to sharing more updates with our community in the future."

While Repeat.gg is now part of the PlayStation family, it has specified that it will feature games on other platforms as well, including mobile, PC and other consoles.

It'll probably be shut down in 3 months time.

It's getting daft now, Microsoft/Sony buying out all these companies its like both are fighting to see who can piss further.

It's only going to kill off the gaming industry, gaming was great when we had all these different independent companies making games, we used to have a wide variety of games.

Now we dont as such, we end up seeing mostly large companies like EA, Activision, Ubisoft that recycle the same crap every year or more if they can squeeze out another.

They dont care about letting the designers come up with new ideas, instead they have them milk every drop they can out of the same titles.

Sony/Microsoft are the same, apart from they'll say to the designers, I want this game now make it happen, don't care if its good or not, just do it.

They'll even scrap sequels to existing titles that would deserve a sequel, or a good project idea.

Then we'll be lucky to see anything from that dev team again.

So, it'll be pretty much the same shit all over again, if not worse.
