Sony's Latin Facebook page managed to accidentally put up a listing for a remake of a classic SNES RPG, Secret of Mana. It was then quickly removed, though people had already gotten a chance to see. A few hours later, Square Enix has confirmed that a Secret of Mana remake is in the works, and will be a 3D remake of the 2D sprite-based original. Secret of Mana's remake will be out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Steam/PC, on February 15, 2018. It will feature fully voiced characters (with options for either English or Japanese voice acting), a remixed soundtrack, and local multiplayer support. The PS4 and PC release will also feature online multiplayer, while the Vita version is local only.

Anyhow, release on vita, no switch/3ds port is silly. Didn't the 3ds sell better anyway? Xbox360 release 8 months after? Some games were meant for 2d.

edit: also, I can understand not releasing on xbox, Japaneses games arn't as popular on there but why not the switch, we are well into the switch by quite a few months and they haven't tryed to port it? or is sony paying for exlusisvity like with sfv with capcom?

We shouldn't rule out Switch quite yet, I bet they're waiting to see how it does for the next few months, they can add it later.

Wonder since when people adapted this cheap chibi looking style that reminds me of final fantasy 4 on ds, as standard for a acceptable HD game in this generation. Sure it worked on systems with lower specs that bearly handles 3D graphics like Nintendo ds and psp, but ps4 is capable of lot more, just reminds me of world of final fantasy.

I agree it's not "PS4 level" for the graphics, but nobody said developers are forced to make games only with a specific graphic level.
I liked a lot when PS2 still made 2D RPG, when the trend was to make everything with a 3D engine. I found 2D pixel art games more appealing (castlevania SOTN, Atelier iris, etc.)

They decided the game to look like this, and being on PS4 is probably irrelevant. though, I don't know why they only plan a PS4 release instead of other platform (3DS? switch? it was a nintendo game, why not switch?)

Awesome! It's my favorite all of time when I was play Secret of Mana game on my real SNES system often and love it.

Finally it come to PS4, PS Vita and PC (Steam). I can't wait to try to play Secret of Mana 3D remake on my PS4 or/and PC and see how going.

When Secret of Mana 3D remake release out on Feb 15, 2018 or Mar 31, 2018 (on PSN store said that), I would play it.

No release date for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One yet. Maybe just 5-8 months after or 1 or 2 years after PS4/PSVita/PC release date.

It's funny. No one expected a Switch version of FFXV (pocket edition or not), yet it seems heavily hinted by SE. It's a game that was probably one of the least likely to make the jump because of what it ran on. Now we have this game that demonstrates nothing that would prevent it from running on Switch. SE has been giving Switch a whole lot of love, especially with Dragon Quest, so one would think they wouldn't hold back. There's even an audience on Switch if the Mana trilogy (exclusive to Japan for now?) is any indication. So, the only thing I could think of that's preventing the game from coming to Switch is Sony. Reminds me too much of the Monster Hunter World situation where it's assumed that Sony paid Capcom to prevent a Switch version because Nintendo is the only competition they have in Japan where MH is popular. MHW is certainly a large step up from MHXX on 3DS, but doesn't look that much of a step up that Switch couldn't run it.

Wow, people are gonna be very hyped for this. They could choose HD next-gen graphics, instead of using the "3DS-like" graphics, but it's still looking pretty lit.
