Switch TrustZoneHax on 4.x

nintendo-switch-15-1-630x354.jpg

The ReSwitched Hacking Team have done it again. motezazer, ktemkin and SciresM have achieved code execution on 4.1.0, the latest version at the time of writing this, via deja vu at TrustZone level. This means devices on 4.1.0 and below will be able to gain access to the whole system. SciresM strongly advises to not update in the future.

After less than a year, the Switch hacking team has moved extremely fast and now have got full access on the latest version. The progress being made is incredible, and in comparison, the 3DS took around 2 years to get ARM9 access. The scene is looking very promising so far and we are very lucky to have such talented people working on the Switch.

Well at least I don't think it will be as bad as when I got my 3DS lol

I bought it then left it OFF for 2 years until gateway came:P.

I just bought mine in a promotion for 250eur, but it comes with 3.02...

If I went into the city I'm sure I could have got a 2.3fw switch since they have lots of them even probably some from day one since they don't sell here.

Where I bought there was only 2, 1 red+blue and mine the gray one...

Ps: I bought Zelda in a promotion too for testing for defects and then I will put the console OFF for as long as it takes to hack it .

If your kid updates your Switch without asking, just sell the kid and use the proceeds to buy another Switch.
Its a kid. If you don't take the precautions and block updates, it's only your fault. If you block updates properly there won't be any way your kid updates the system. They likely won't understand what an update is when it happens, even when you explain it to them. They'll click update probably without even realizing it.

Fuck it, that sneaky b*stard of an update.
I wanted to play Odyssey, and clicked too fast on icon to launch the game. I was surprised with the update pop-up, and BAM! Update complete! Kill me please.

If I buy Mario Oddysey right now (physical) and I'm on 4.1.0, will I have to update my Switch in order to play? And I can I download the latest game version without updatin the game it self?

You should be able to update the game still by pressing + on the game icon and manually updating. DO NOT update via the prompt, because it will update both the game and the console

Ah I see, that's too bad. I hope that when TrustZoneHax comes, we can play on the latest version whilst still having CFW.
The cfw is being devloped at a fast rate we could have it before the big games come out later this year.

My son and his buddy were playing Rocket League yesterday . It told him there was a software update and wouldn't allow them to continuing playing. He decided to download it. Now I'm on 5.0.0. -FML
That’s what happens when you let kids use a system you got for yourself

I don't think he was seriously suggesting selling a child into slavery to fund a homebrew solution!!

The fact that what you took from that post was the dangers of not blocking updates and not the potential risk of child slavery is more hilarious than the joke :D

If it indeed was a joke (which it was, even you yourself deduced that), then there was no risk of child slavery at all, so his disregard of the humorous jab was an acceptable response to the comment.

For the record, if you purchase a game cartridge that requires an update to 3.0.2-4.1.0, there's no reason for someone on 3.0.1 not to update to 3.0.2-4.1.0.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
