Did some more work, nothing terribly definitive yet although I will say if you are familiar with DS files it looks like the wii will follow.
Some menu stuff viewed with a GBA viewer (why it looks awful, if I have time in the morning I will see if I can get the spec down).
I also found some arc files which at first glance appear similar to the NARC files the DS uses (not exactly but close enough to raise eyebrows). TGA files with references to them being textures were there (whether these are standard TGA (TARGA) images remains to be seen but it is not unheard of.

I poked around the pop3wii.bf file, it reminds me of the DS sound files (what I guess to be an offset list followed by a large list of names: do a string search for ASCII and unicode and you will pick it up).
Extract from the soundwii.fat (a small file alongside the considerably larger soundwii.big). I am not sure what sb7 is but I saw a string along the lines of soundstream.ss7, ss7 is a broadcast format (http://www.gl.com/ss7.html rare though and I call coincidence)

I also started to look at the apploader.img from the deconstruction of PP_0.bin, if I had time it looks like some interesting things could be pulled from it (it contains a bunch of error messages and dev stuff (file system talk) in ASCII) and the files that it comes with. It looks like it will be one of the check several hundred isos including same game different region before something nice appears. It appears the devs are as lax as ever when it comes to cleaning stuff from the image (one of the main things that led to the DS sound format being reverse engineered was the accidental inclusion of a map of the SDAT from the nitro dev kit in Zoids)
Also if someone knows of a nice (preferably freeware) powerPC disassembler that would be great. RAW mode (blind disassembly) is pretty essential.
Hopefully next time I can forgo the "kid in a candy shop" approach and actually get down to some real hacking rather than my current speculate a lot approach.
