Simply put no. They run pretty much the same. They both use the same methods for mounting and running games. However you may find that Cobra can break certain games as I certainly have. Though that was a few versions back to say the least.... if you find a problematic game while using cobra try either disabling cobra (rebug will let you toggle it) or installing a non cobra CFW and seeing if the issue persists. Of it does the game dump is likely bad. Find/make a new copy. You may also find some games work with cobra that don't work without.
Thanks, I was trying to fiddle with the 'cobra' function in rebug although it doesn't switch back to 'PS2Emu', but the games ran fine, some do better on the ps3 than on PCSX2. :)

My Torx security screw set finally arrived today so I cracked open my Slim and replaced the thermal paste with Arctic Cooling MX-4. Perhaps not necessary but it's idling at 44C right now. :) a nice easy thing to do for anybody who does PC building.

So after reinstalling cfw (due to softlocking the previous time) im on rebug 4.81. Is There a way to update my system without losing cfw? I barely modded my system a few days ago with the new method so i dont know how to go about this.
why do you wish to update? Rebug is the ideal firmware. You can install a 4.82 spoof for online if you wish using the latest SEN enabler. However also use psnpatch too

Run into a weird issue I guess. Exploit seemed to work. Said success and PS3 rebooted, but I cannot install an cfw. Keeps rejecting the pup files.

What CFW are you trying to install? Is it in the correct directory and correctly named? Are you sure it's a 4.82 CFW?

Trying to install 4.82 FERROX Standard. I have the file named PS3UPDAT.PUP. I have three copies. One one root, another in a folder called PS3, and another in /PS3/USB. Tried install from both XMB and recovery.

The PS3UPDAT.PUP needs to be in /PS3/UPDATE/

Any reason you're going with Ferrox standard instead of Ferrox Cobra or Rebug? It has less features.

I was just following a guide. At the end it went to Rebug.

Oh, Ha Ha.

If you read the posts I made after that one, I actually was able to figure it out myself.
And I was helping out in this thread in the beginning and giving recommendations for CFW and ps3 homebrew.
And helping out a few people.

It was when the hack first came out and no guides, so I had to figure it out on my own and I didn't want to wait for a video anymore.
Thanks for the helping gesture though.

If you're downloading the DLC from 'places' then you shouldn't need a PSN account. There may be a fix file included with them.

I don't have a PSN account on my CFW machine and won't be using one.

I do hope something eventually come out for super slim ps3, I want to play ToV PS3 in english. They did say a HEN exploit like the vita got was in the work, but would that be enough to plat ToV in english?

It's a hypothetical discussion at the moment, The devs have suggested that the exploit could be adapted into a HEN-style homebrew loader from which a backup loader could be developed, but ultimately we're talking about something that doesn't exist at the moment.

You can either wait for an exploit to potentially appear sometime next year, or trade in your SuperSlim for a compatible Slim.

I have a CECH-2501a on 4.46. According to the info I've read, it is not compatible with the xploit, Am I right?

You don't need a psn account for any of that unless you are downloading something you own.... dlc and other game pkg files usually come with a .rap or .rif file which can be used with reactPSN to activate the content.

Use psnpatch then. You need an account if you've already not got one. Just set up a quick one which a ten minute email or something. Run psnpatch while holding L with the files in the exdata folder on USB and that's it.
