Yet another one joins the bite-sized retro console hype train! Konami announced during its E3 panel that a mini version of the TurboGrafx-16 is coming. Known as the PC Engine in Japan, this 16-bit console was originally released in 1987. It was later released in the West and rebranded as the TurboGrafx-16. The original console was designed by Hudson and manufactured by NEC, and Konami was one of the biggest supporters of the platform having developed several titles for it. Konami later acquired Hudson, and hence its handling of this project.

A controller similar to the original will come packed with the TurboGrafx-16 mini and it will also sport two USB controller ports. The console will come pre-loaded with at least 6 games, which will vary according to the region. American and European audiences will be able to play the following titles:

• R-Type
• New Adventure Island
• Ninja Spirit
• Ys Book I & II
• Dungeon Explorer
• Alien Crush

While Japanese gamers will have access to the following games:

• Bonk’s Adventure
• Dracula X
• The Kung Fu/China Warrior
• Ys I & II
• Super Star Soldier
• Dungeon Explorer

We expect Konami to announce more games and eventually a full lineup for the console in the future as the company has yet to provide more information regarding pricing and release date. What games would you like to see brought back in this miniature TurboGrafx-16?

Keeping Dracula X only in Japan is a big mistake. Like yeah, it's much more accessible than it used to be, but it's the most iconic game from the system's library.

.......that and Boinks Adventure is like leaving Mario games out of the Nes classic in the US.

They should have just put every game they plan to put in each console with every console. Including the translations. No reason to have separated game libraries like this.
